🕸 TAPESTRY TIPS 🕸 - How to keep the edges of your tapestry straight

This video is one that I wished I had available when I was starting out - instead, I had to learn through trial and error!
I hope this works for you, and gives you straighter edges (or selvedges)!

I just started weaving last week and found this very helpful. I use blocking to straighten out my crochet squares and it works well for that. I would imagine it would work the same for weaving as well.

Great tips! Thanks very much. When I learnt tapestry I was also doing other subjects related to textiles. We learnt blocking differently. Our tapestry teacher didn't like this method at all - but ... we pinned it out and then steam ironed it with the iron hovering over the piece. Do NOT touch the piece with the iron! It worked ok - I was not great at straight edges (still a challenge) and it made them better but not perfect.

Aaah, I haven't heard of that one! I do iron my tapestries, but mainly on the back 😁

Besides yours(lol( I liked Sonyas paintings 🖼. Thx for the tour! The large art sale ,3 days, I was in, was exhausting, now vack in the studio. I've decided to concentrate on more tapestry weaving this next year...can't wait.

I've seen online tapestry weavers connecting a string on both sides of tapestry to the frame of loom while weaving ...to keep edges straight. Can't remember if clips were also used.

Yes, that's what I meant when talking about the guides - I was told to use that technique when I was learning, but I found that you really need to anchor those threads, otherwise they will move with the wonky edges! 🤣
