"Magazine" is a collaboration between Japanese composer Kenichiro Nishihara and songwriter and lyricist Ashley Eriksson, along with her band, LAKE (US). Eriksson's concept for the lyrics is to depict the way a woman may judge, or try not to judge, other women. The lyrics tell the story a somewhat modest and old-fashioned woman shuffling through a grocery store aisle. She tries not to look at the tabloids, but pretty soon finds herself gawking at pictures of celebrities. The narrator attempts to compare the woman at the grocery store to the woman on the cover of the tabloid.
The video is written and directed by Eriksson and the main character is played by Nicole Parnell. Rather than filming an actual checkout stand in a grocery store, a waiting room was used instead. At first in the video, Nicole's character shyly flips through magazines and contemplates the content. Next, her casual viewing turns into a compulsive, frantic rampage. Finally, she imagines herself as a model in a magazine ad and even has some fun dancing, although she is concerned about the "4th wall" in reference to the showbiz term that something can make or break your career, as heard during the lyrics "I can't make you do what you want to. What makes you can break you."

Any plans on coming to Seattle ever??? PS: Ashley has such a soft, soothing voice. If a fleece blanket warmed by a fireplace could sing, she's what it'd sound like. Not to mention the fantastic accompaniment. So underrated.

They had one, it was hacked though and I think they made a new one named "The Lake" they posted their AT song there called "I Look Up To You" but I think the channel is not active anymore, I tried listening to the other songs on their playlist but it didn't sound like them at all.

they have band camp, and there LAKE website which has all there music u can listen too expect for the most recent albums usually, and u can use musi (yt/spotify without ads, iphone app only) and just add there playlist to it. and probably physical copy’s. other than that idk anything else

It was an accident! We've been a band for 12 years (btw). Too late to change the name at this point. Thanks for the tip though. We Love the German Lake too but probably would have never discovered them if we hadn't accidentally used the same name as them. Good Will to You!
