Thank you for untangling this subject. I feel much more at ease. 🙏

Excellent, excellent, excellent.. Desire has gotten a very bad rap I'm afraid and it is essentially innocent.

I mean as long as nobody's boundaries are violated (much), what's the big deal? The way you talk about desires is very different from dealing with anything compulsive, it's really consciously accepting whatever comes up. I guess most people have a rather overdeveloped control mechanism so as to not embarrass themselves or become a social pariah. It's sort of Freudian. Greetings from Germany

Greetings Stefan. We have all had our desires shut down to a greater or lesser degree. So yes, first step is to be willing to simply accept ourselves and our desires and our needs as they are. When early on our desires we punished or shamed or dismissed or belittled, yes the defensive mechanism steps in to suppress them in order to avoid a greater pain. This ends up persisting into adulthood influencing us, even though we can see the way is clear. Only being lovingly with the wounded part of you does this primal, traumatic energy become freed.

Hi GP, thankyou for another insightful video. Please could i request a video with your interpretation on a talk from J Krishnamurti about why a man dosent change, despite listening to so many teachings. Link to that particular talk is below: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6fRfoiOZa2NnLs i found what he said at 16:55 very profound but struggling to fully grasp the concept of it

Well, let me take a look. I do a retreat at the Krishnamurti Center of Canada every year so it will be nice to comment on that.

@GPWalsh thankyou so much i really appreciate it, i feel its an important area to understand - how having both outward and inward pressure brings no change in man
