Yay Tori! I am subscribed and look forward to seeing the Baird's Family life through your eyes. I was hooked on the last family overland and canoe trip because of the very real emotional experiences you shared with us on camera. I love being outside and doing small bush craft projects and short camping adventures, so I am all in with your channel. Good luck and, like all youtubers, you will learn as you go.

Hi Tori We're still in sap season here in Northern MN. Our temps dipped back below freezing so the sap is frozen in the bags yet. I love this time of year! We use a barrel stove and finish off the syrup in the house once it cooks down and is just about ready to finish.

Never tapped trees, nor seen how it’s done. My Dad always said “A question is not dumb, unless you already knew the answer.” So, here is my question - I can’t identify many tree types. So, what do you look for to know it’s a maple tree?
@ToriGoesOutside8 ай бұрын
That’s definitely not a stupid question! Especially since we’re tapping in early spring before it has leaves, you have to be able to identify it based on the bark and the branches. Here’s a good article on how to identify them: ferrinbrookfarm.wordpress.com/2016/02/12/identifying-maple-trees-in-winter-to-tap-for-maple-syrup-2/

❤❤ I KNOW THIS SOUNDS SILLY BUT COULD YOU TAP OPPOSITE SIDES OF ONE TREE TO GET MORE SAP??❤❤
@ToriGoesOutside8 ай бұрын
Not silly at all! You can put two taps on one tree as long as the tree is wider than 18 inches in diameter and three taps for a tree wider than 25 inches or more
