it is a shame many if our younger generations do not respect or under stand the meaning of taps or the power it has on the human soul.

I was at a national cemetery for a funeral and a "kid" (late 20's?) stood with his hat on as Taps was started. I quietly asked him to remove it. I was informed "I don't have to. This ain't no big deal." I found out he was the "friend of a friend" of a family member.

Taps always brings tears to my eyes, it reminds me of my father who served in WW2. Thank you so much to all war veterans.

Most heart ripping experience of my life was standing behind the wife and kids of one our fallen Marines post Afghanistan as we paid our respects. They couldn't hold thier pain in and Marines left and right did their best to hold theirs in....unforgettable and ill never live it down. Much love and respect to the brotherhood we earned through blood sweat and tears.

It makes me tear up everytime I hear it. It's been played 7 times in my 73 yrs, for relatives, and will be for my husband, and several cousins. Hubby is a Ret. SCPO 20 yrs in USN, has requested the Navy Hymn too.

My daddy is in Arlington. I'm so proud of him. He worked on the landing craft on D-Day and survive. Later he became the carpenter in Miami area one of his best friends he called chief I did not learn until later in my life that was Chief Billy of the Seminole Nation never defeated never submit. One nation under God indivisible liberty and justice for all that's what those men fought for and I will too God bless you Daddy
