Honestly from all Treasure Islands book adaptations that i've seen i would rank: 1 - 1988 Soviet version Return to the Treasure Island 2 - 1982 Bulgarian version Treasure Planet 3 - 2003 Disney Treasure Planet 4 - 1971 Treasure Island However each adaptation portrays every character in their unique ways, Cpt. Smollet is amazing in the Soviet Version, Silver in the Disney, Black Dog in the Bulgarian one so go on.

Know that this adaptation of the treasure island will never replace the Soviet one for me, with its cheerful Dr. Livesey. Perhaps for the American and European viewers (I vouch for Australia and others) that Soviet version of the treasure island is familiar as "return to treasure island" but there are no inserts with live actors. Therefore, I recommend watching with subtitles.

I think what I like about this Treasure Island Adaptation is the the way the Hispaniola actually looks. The book says shes a schooner, but most adaptations have a frigate instead of a schooner. So it is good to see this adaptation has some faithful elements to the book (minor details are interesting ones). Edit(s): Although, the animation here is minimal, if not kinda choppy and low par. It could be reanimated if someone ought to be willing to. Well, when you see it, it is there. The animation is fine, though it can be below par depending on where.

Although, the illustrations used as background and the Hispanola, they're pretty and well made. Character designs for the all characters, kinda like Scooby Doo's designs. While not bad, it could be much more dynamic in its looks and features.

there is a version of treasure island with similar animation although i have never ever seen it again . jim hawkins had brown hair and benn hunn had long dark hair and sallow skin , looked very scary . it was on video and i remember it almost word for word but cant picture the logo on the box or any other info regarding the studio ect . it had almost early anime style but it was not the Japanese version with the subs . would have been made in the 80s if anyone remembers the end scene the parrot repeats its line " squawk pieces of 8 pieces of 8" before the end credits

I love the music at 0:58. Anyone know anything about the composer?
@MysteryManfrom794 ай бұрын
John Sangster, the famous Australian jazz musician. He composed quite a few of these API Famous Tales adaptations (he and Richard Bowden did them alternately), and the piece you are referring to is a seafaring type tune that was used for seascape and harbour type settings. You can hear the same piece in harbour scenes in Moby Dick and Kidnapped from the same producers. John seemed to get all the ones with the sea, and Richard Bowden the ones set inland. I believe John Sangster also scored the animated LORD OF THE RINGS.

I thought that was really well made! Shall have to check the Russian version next! Well, just saw a bit of the Russian one, not too convinced by the style of cartoon art though. Maybe need to get into it. There is a Japanese Manga type one that seems promising. (Takarajima) and it’s been dubbed. Don’t understand ‘Cute’ animals included in these ones, guess its cultural.
