Yesterday I watched for the first time your very first outing with Farouk under saddle and how well he did with the motorbikes and all the other hazards for a young horse. Today I watched this video and was full of admiration for the way your patience has made Farouk into a wonderfully obedient and exciting horse which must be a joy to ride. I love your videos Tara thank you. Best wishes to you all. M

This was great....another Arab that can keep up with Farouk! He definitely gets into "go" mode when he gets out on these rides.....he knows he was born to run! The other Arab is beautiful also....but Farouk, in his bigness is majestic. I still watch the Bedouin man and how he trains his horses....love to watch them run through the sandy dunes. Yelena, the sweet Fresian I acquired is not a forward horse. Been thinking that I might later on get an Andalusian as her mate....I have fallen in love with a sweet Lusitano who pastured with Yelena but I think he is too much horse for me. Ahhh, only expanding the dream! Would love to have the grand riding arena you hack out on!

With horses, a great deal of their "conversations" are done with body language.

Well, I had one horse that I knew held conversations! She'd never quit neighing if she saw another horse! (I rode her as a last measure...) What she was saying? I just know she created one noisy conversation with the other horse... probably complaining about her horrible rider. 😃

Arabians are such a paradox - one minute they are floating across the ground with a breathtaking trot, and the next they are tripping over their own hooves, lol. If I'm leading my Arabian Zell and he stumbles, he always looks over at me as if accusing me of tripping him.

The Arab I had was a perfect kids' horse. He was the calmest little guy...only 14.1, but totally trustworthy with anyone. Yet at gaming, he was almost always taking home the ribbons. It's in the breeding, as well as the training I guess. Farouk is coming along so well!
@leonslionessnz48675 жыл бұрын
How lovely for Farouk to meet another Arabian. I often wonder if purebred horses recognize their own kind. For instance if there were a group of horses in a paddock together and two were Arabians would they be friends with each other? I have heard of tamed Mustangs preferring one anothers company rather than mixing with horses that have always been domesticated.
@Tara1015 жыл бұрын
tfs😃
@ShintogaDeathAngel4 жыл бұрын
Not sure, but I think with the mustangs it makes sense for them to prefer each other’s company than that of horses that have never been wild or feral. You can take the man off the street, but not the street out of the man, if that makes sense? Mustangs probably think of the more pampered domestic horses as “soft” and not an ideal part of their tough horse gang 😂

Normally I like the long mane's on horses but that short one really looked good that horse. Validation that I was right about colors if I see this behavior in the rescues! : ) I am learning so much from these video's Tara. Giggle of the day, the scary log. lol I think Farouk is rushing because he just wants to get it over with so that he can go home where he feels safe. Eventually he should settle though the more he is pushed out there to face his fears. It's a shame you can't research his history to see about any traumas he's had that make him be afraid like he is. I have a feeling that he has growing up before you got him. It would explain a lot of things. Like one horse's act out I got to ride. The new owner forgot to tell me he was a rescue from being severely beaten and with western, for some odd reason you have half a mile of reins. I like you like to have a short rein to pull them in if they get speedy or nervous. I happened to lay the leftover on him where I could be sure he wouldn't trip and he stiffened and danced sideways. I got him under control but for some reason tossed the reins on the other side, be deviled if he didn't the same thing. It clicked after that, that it was the reins that was the trigger so I balled them up and said "See", turning his head so he could see the ball, "Not gonna harm you, to short now." The rest of the ride I had no problems with him. The owner panicked when he found out that I was not an experienced rider because of this horse's panic attacks and came looking for us. He couldn't believe it when I told him," no,no problem once I shortened his reins he doesn't seem to like them long." I was told he would of never let a beginner ride him yet here I was and not in the ditch where he thought he would find me. lol

Wow the lady kept up with you and neither Arab like different road colours. Farouk is certainly getting fit, especially trotting up those hills. It must have been nice riding with another person who has the same breed of horse and problems. The other was very compact. What’s with the blue lead rope, plus didn’t she have different stirrups. Were they to stop her foot from going through. He looked about 14 h perhaps.

Tara I’ve seen them on the American endurance rides where distances are 50 to 100 miles, the riders have worn trainers, perhaps some run with their horse plus comfort. Farouk certainly seems to love the endurance. X

Arabians range in height from " pony sized" to thoroughbred height depending on breeding. Size does not relate directly with endurance ability. The original Arabians brought over from the middle east were pony sized to barely 15 hands. (4 in=1hand). Little does not mean less mighty!
