"Mummy! Those brambles were hurting you, I HAD to get you out of there!!" Poor Bella, poor you, getting a bramble to the face. I agree with you, Tara, you shouldn't have gone through there. If someone is going to lead a group on a trail, then maybe that person should ride the trail to make sure the way is clear. The past is not the present or the future.

Wow, that was nasty!! I'm surprised it was so bad!! Bill should have known better than to take that path. Bella, I think got a little fright when the horse in front disappeared on her. So glad you didn't get swept out of the saddle.

What an awful jungle trail. Not good after a lot of rain and warm weather the vegetation has certainly gone crazy there and the brambles wow . Even in South Lincolnshire the brambles are like the hanging gardens of Babylon this year with growth. These trails should be maintained too much low growth and hanging branches. No doubt it would be different in low foliage season. Glad you all made it through.🐴🐶🐴🐶

Councils are saving money by not maintaining footpaths / bridleways and even roadside verges in many places. They wait until it’s reported as a nuisance or a danger. Started during Covid then we had no mow may, said to be for the wildlife and then that continued to just no mow any month.

That was horrid! Brambles are so strong and sharp. I can just imagine what that felt like for you and Bella. I remember parts of the path, with the gate and drop off! Not a pleasant place to ride really.

That bridleway is [positively dangerous! It could damage a horse's or human's eyes. Bella is very good about walking behind and with the other horses in the group.

What a lovely young lady you were talking to. What a horrible bridleway. Been through some rough patches myself but I think that beats those and what a scary experience for Bella. Nice to see you wait for the girl shutting the gate. I had a hairy experience when I got off to close a heavy gate and the people riding with us told my friend at the front we were all through the gate so she led off with a canter up to the top of the hill. I did it with one foot in the stirrup, the other dangling along side and a handful of mane with the reins. I was totally unable to do anything until the horses in front slowed down. These were all friends of my friend (who I rode with every day) and every few months we used to hire horses for the weekend so they could come on day rides with us. There were a couple of hairy moments with one or two of them and poor etiquette. Put it this way it was with one of this group that for the first time in my life I wanted to hit someone and through my crop down on the ground to make sure I didn’t but I did give him a tongue lashing. I won’t bore you with all the details let’s just say he will never gallop up alongside a bolting horse ever again! 😂

Bella's fly mask would have likely, got caught up and ripped going through that dense of overgrowth. And maybe make her panic even more so, because she already could barely see through the branches and overgrown foliage.
