DC offset issues are an output drive issue or there is a resistor or two out of spec in the DC offset circuit. Sometimes a quick brief nondestructive output short will damage the offset circuit. I am under an NDA with Taramps so I am unable to provide schematics.

Sounds like the common IC9 failure. This IC is responsible for turning the amplifier "on". If it is new and recently purchased you may be covered for warranty repair. www.ellensburgamplifier.com/request-a-quote if you are interested in a warranty repair.

Hello, what supply voltage you are using? dc offset varies depending on input voltage, 12v and 14v shows different dc offset so in which voltage is correct to set zero? Thanks!
@ellensburgamplifier Жыл бұрын
I set the DC offset at my 12v bench and recheck at the load bench that runs at 13.6v. If this is your amplifier then I would set it at the voltage you run your system at.

What causes the buzzing sound from the amp? I hear it at very low volume. Could it be a filter capacitor ?
@ellensburgamplifier Жыл бұрын
If it is from the amplifier itself then it is a noisy winding. If the sound is at the speaker then it most likely is input noise through the pre amp.

@@brick2077 Be careful with 16 volts. IC9, the remote turn on IC can get damaged with high voltage. I do have a few videos on the 8k. It may be an amp issue but again I would have to diagnose it to have any answers.
@ThatsMrMark2 жыл бұрын
A lot of time the reason the power supply fails with no signs of any other damage is simply due to the lack of available electrical current and or battery reserve. This in turn places a tremendous strain on the amplifiers power supply section/s resulting in ps failure as I stated above. Premature clipping also is a pretty major factor when it comes to the lack of electrical. This is one of the main reasons why the first question that I ask every single customer is, what does his or her electrical consist of entirely, from the front to the back and everything in between.

100% correct! The automotive audio world is most people will see what a system will do. The SQ end of the audio world is something that is becoming part of the past. For instance, I have an Audiofrog 150.4 here claimed to be a top-notch SQ amp but I do not see anyone paying the price for it. they would instead put the money into a Pitbull 20k.

Biggest issue I believe is that the amps are too cheap (Money not quality) and these people are not supplying it with sufficient electrical.

Hi good to see you again! I see this issue mostly on the 8k and 12k amps. A little more solder on the traces prevents this issue from happening again. At least this is what I am seeing. People may underestimate the potential power of these amps due to their size. Parallel up a bunch of IRFB4127 or IRFB4115 transistors (depending on the ohm version) and you have a ton of potential pulse current handling.

Hello Todd! After having watched you working on quite a few of these Taramps mobile audio amplifiers now, I must proclaim; the copper cladding weight used by this company for their printed circuit boards is insufficient. I have seen you struggling with repeated circuit board failures on the Taramps amplifiers which, from strictly a printed circuit board design perspective, is extremely excessive. I am coming at you from thirty plus (30+) years of hands on, mobile audio amplifier repair and modification/alteration experience and I cannot say, under any circumstances, that the Taramps PCB failures that I am witnessing via your KZbin videos can be deemed acceptable in any way. This is to say, in my opinion only, that these Taramps PCBs are utter and complete, under-designed, junk. Fred
@ellensburgamplifier2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I do agree that the traces are too thin for the amount of current that can pass through these boards. It is always in the output section and I am sure with enough claims they will change the thickness of these boards. After I do my make-over on these I never see them come back with this issue. Thank you for the channel support!
