I'm arachnophobic but I'm trying to get over this irrational fear by learning about different types of spiders. Now I must say Wednesday looks different than other spiders, for me she looks way more friendly that other species and is pretty similar to spiders portrayed in cartoons. Somehow that makes her not just beautiful but also safe. Like, I could be around a Velvet spider in real life and not panicking. You have beautiful pets but she's definitely my pick for cutie ❤️
@kitsune0rei3 жыл бұрын
Velvets look so soft and thick, but jumpers win overall. So sweet and fuzzy! The way they look at you! All their different personalities! I'd rather have a spider who likes to explore and you actually see out. I think if you have jumpers, you should have several (unless you have other spiders.) Then you won't stress as much when your jumper decides to disappear in their hammock for a week. You just have to be prepared for heartbreak. Jumpers can die for no reason, and you will have to deal with elderly spider care. Spookie Boo, my first jumper, gifted me with babies and then passed. I cried, but I've enjoyed raising her children. They're almost old enough to continue her legacy in another generation.

I think both spiders are cute in their own way! Jumping spiders are so tiny, but animated and I adore watching videos about them when they interact with a person outside in the wild - they are adorable! Also, I watched jumping spiders dance and they have moves (they had colorful bums, so i think they were peacock spiders, but they looked like jumping spider, so I'm not sure if they are the close cousins or just from different place - I'm not a spider keeper, besides being friendly with wild spiders under my bed haha). But velvet spiders have such a beautiful, velvety "fur", are black and their eyes are feline like almost. I can't decide :)

I just learned, or saw what velvet spiders natural habitat looks like and I was completely shocked to see that they live in an almost boggy type environment. I'm guessing that's why she like that moss so much. Their entire floor is covered in different mosses. Mostly reindeer moss. it's not a completely soggy wet bog. But it definitely is a more damp environment. Damp and green. Burrowing into peat and using moss to build into her web structure. It was absolutely exciting to see. Your enclosure for her was the closest to matching her natural habitat. This video was so informative and entertaining as well. So glad to have found your channel. Edit: I wanted to add that their habitat looks exactly like a hobbit homes setting.lol very bright green with pops of color from flowers thru out the landscape. Almost magical.lol

There is a jumping spider somewhere in my room, and I am pretty sure it has been responsible for keeping the sac spiders at bay as I haven't seen a single one yet this winter...so far, at least. I'd have put it outside, but it was too cold so I just let it chill. I've kept several species of them before and love them. The velvet spider is still super cool though.
