10 meter air guns, pistol and rifle, are extremely addictive and great fun. I’m fortunate enough to have a basement large enough for a full 10 meter range. Best of luck to you!

That's awesome mate, luckily the club is not far away from home and the 10m ranges are almost always quiet. It's so addictive right now as I'm frankly rubbish..😆 I'm making steady progress though which is really rewarding my end 🤠😎

Another technique to try is set your sights to hit centre when you aim at bottom edge of target, it can sometimes be easier to hold a focus on the edge rather than centre of the target.
@tillysgunstocks2 күн бұрын
Absolutely mate, I've been trying different sighting positions . I'm going to attempt to mark up my sight elevation adjustment (a bit like a top turret setup) so I can make quick adjustment depending the type of target I'm on at the time 😉

I used to compete as a Paralympic in 10 meter air pistol its hard to master thats for sure theres a minimum qualification score for every match anywhere from 540 to 560 depending on how important and big the event is , its a 60 shot game 10 shot every target and you got an hour and 15 minutes ( 75 minutes ) to finish and if you qualify you enter the finals and its a total different game by itself 8 top shooters and 24 final shots your heart is gonna pump so much blood it’s unbelievable and the crowd just go crazy clapping and cheering it’s hard to stay focused

Wow that's awesome shooting mate! I'm going to buy a load of the proper 10m targets so I can stick to the correct type for the foreseeable future and hopefully work on my technique a lot..! It's great feeling so green to the pistols,I've a lot to learn and up for the challenge 🤠😉

Good start to a different type of shooting. I've been using a cheap Beeman P17 SSP for several years using ISSF targets at 10m, with the bull at 140cm high. Here are some tips I found useful... Practice little and often when you start. Video each session and review to spot any issues. Trigger pull is important and getting the blade angle and skew correct for your finger helps avoid pulling/pushing off target. Setting the trigger correctly is also vital. I like the first stage to be about 30% of the second stage which should be as close to the minimum of 500g as possible. Finally no alcohol or coffee less than four hours before you shoot🙂
@tillysgunstocks2 күн бұрын
Oh well that's that out the window then mate. No coffee for 4 hours 🤔😆 I'll make a note of your suggestions,thank you 🤠😉

I tried it, I love the pistols but I just couldn't hit anything. I am in COMPLETE awe of anyone who competes in this discipline but it isn't for me. I could barely shoot a paper bag off the end of the muzzle.
@tillysgunstocksКүн бұрын
It's definitely one of them sports that looks easy but in practice it's about the hardest I've encountered so far. It's amazing though just over the last month I can see some decent improvement in technique and muscle memory. Hopefully the £2 coin groups arent unrealistic 🤔

Have a few powerful pcp pistols that I've fitted long eye-relief scopes to and love that challenge....Weihrauch HW44...Benjamin Marauder pistol....even some of my older target pistols. In the US it's much more normal and after seeing an old FWB 80 scoped I just loved the look...and crosshairs held still with one hand...haha...best with two! I'll keep a keen eye on this great new development in the channel. 😃

Super excited for you to take on 10 meter air pistol. I’m a few months ahead of you but new to it as well. My best is a 93/100 string with the Air Venturi version of the Gamo Compact using those Econ IIs. Great beginner combo. If you ever make grips for that Gamo Comoact, I would buy some. The grips are everything in air pistol.

Having shot 10 meter air pistol competitively many moons ago ( 70's) I remeber having terrible trouble getting grips made for either my Steyr or Morini pistol . In those days you had to order from Willy Hoffman or Karl Neill in Germany and you send an outline drawing of your hand ( Pencilled round the edges) and waited 3 months !! Then when you got it , you got out your riffler and files and plastic padding and tried to get it right ! The Precihole I am sure isntt bad , but if you are serious get a Steyr with an electric trigger . You will be hooked . Too old now for me so back to Benchrest ! Enjoy!

I did a bit of pistol shooting for a few months. Amazing guns, but very challenging to hold still at arms length and really hard to squeeze that trigger with upsetting things. I found that doing long holds one after another helped to strengthen my shooting arm. In the end, I prefer the precision of shooting a rifle, but it is an interesting challenge for sure and easier to do indoors in the winter.
@tillysgunstocks2 күн бұрын
Absolutely mate. If I can use the pistol to regain some of the feeling and dexterity in my knackered left hand then I'll be so happy. They are certainly challenging and I love learning new stuff so hopefully do a bit more over the winter whilst the weather's too poor to really push my limits with the rifles.😉

Nice one. This shows that Precihole makes some good barrels. If you start selling some custom grips, I am sure they would sell well. @miket21202 күн бұрын
Welcome to the smaller size of airgun shooting! I've been shooting the IZH-46 for a number of years now and I'm still convinced it can shoot far better than me if I just let do it by itself. it's a single shot pneumatic that clocks in at about 450-500fps and off the bench about 1" or less groups. If I do it offhand then I'm looking at 3" at best. Two big factors for me: older eyes and not the best muscle training for my right arm. Grip is fine, tho' it could use a little reshaping and filling for that final touch.
@tillysgunstocksКүн бұрын
It's amazing mate how such seemingly small tweeks can lead to large gains down range. I'm already noticing I can go longer shot strings before my arms fall off 😆 It'll be fun to document it all and the hurdles I'll no doubt face 😉

Now you need 2 makes of pellet. RWS Hobby (they are capable of 5-10mm groups) for the physical side of practice, your shooting action and muscles. Then get serious with JSB Diablo Target pellets (flatties), these are the Bogs Dollox. I bench rest tested them at 12 m and put most through the centre of a 6mm target with the rest still clipping the 6mm target. I used to do 10m standing which I found harder than pistol. Have you seen the price of a Feinwerbau? Then there is the cost of the jacket and rifle rest. Good luck and all the best for 2025.
@tillysgunstocksКүн бұрын
Cheers mate, happy new year 😀 I'll definitely do some further pellet testing in time..right now I'm pretty bad a shot so I'll stick with the Econs for the moment then look at some of the rws pellets down the line. Everyone has been talking about the r10s so I'll definitely give them a test.. I might well bunch some diopters on the 9015 for a bit of practice with that too 😆

Happy New Year! Fun video and congratulations for expanding your horizons. HFT is my thing, but here in Canada, winter closes everything down for almost 5 months. 6 metre pistol shooting in my living room gets me through the off season and keeps the trigger technique in check. I suck at 10 metres because my old eyes just can’t focus well enough. Best wishes on your new journey. One last thing, the RWS R10 7.0 grains aren’t that much more expensive and are fantastic in most of my pistols. Cheers

I was looking at them mate. But typically this action is a bit of a custom job. It's got a tench BSA reg and cylinder,as there's loads more short cylinder options with the bsa tubes. Also like you, I shoot "cross eyed", I'm left eye dominant, so it's strange getting used to holding the pistol in my right hand using my left eye to get the sight picture. I have an old Rohm twinmaster target with a right hand grip, but I'm looking for a left hand grip for it as I now have bother with the right elbow. I also shoot rifle, an S200 at and above 35m with a half centimetre group. Learning a lot from you, so keep up the good work, and I'll keep watching! Happy New Year to you and yours, lang may yer lum reek!

Happy new year mate! As far as I can tell there's not a huge disadvantage shooting cross eyed, I just have to be careful I don't lean my head over too much as it spoils my balance a bit. It's so much fun and way harder than I ever expected it be. It'll be fun to document any progress on here and ofcourse I'll leave all the misses in for you lot to smirk at 😆
@deorthepoet30692 сағат бұрын
@tillysgunstocks A little easier for me, I think, being right handed my stance just lengthens the distance from left eye to front blade. I'll just have to come up with a way to support the dodgy elbow! 😆😆

Happy new year. i recently got a reximex mito pistol for a new challenge. Good fun and makes a great change from my rifles. what club is that? I live fairly local to you in Sittingbourne

The high right misses are usually caused by to much thumb pressure when shooting right handed

I reckon you're spot on mate. I've got a ton of work to do on my technique just yet but I'm making a lot of mental notes on what's going on and where I can make improvements especially in grip shape and sizing 😉

I shoot airrifle, airpistol and fire-arm pistol. It started only airrifle, but I shoot lefthanded riffle (left dominant eye, righthanded )Tthe club has no lefthand riffles so I switched to .22LR pistol and that was more fun as I expected. To have more practice I also started shooting airpistol and that is even harder then .22LR-pistol. After 4 months I'm now at the point I have all 5 on the card and on average between only 25 and 30 but it is fun to do. I use the pistols from the club, I only have my own airrifle (Walther LG400 comp alu frame. I had seen the Chinese pistols, they are not so extreme in price. I had not expected them to be useful because the grip and non adjustable sight. But seeing you shooting one I maybe buy one too.

It's an unexpected twist picking up a pistol but I absolutely love it. It's good exercise too.. I've found new muscles ,that I didn't know I had,until my arms started to fall off 😆

Will you put the trigger weight the same on both guns
@tillysgunstocks2 күн бұрын
I'll certainly aim to get them as close as I can to each other, but got a lot of work to do before I finish the 200 off. It's a bit of a custom job already so not much off the shelf stuff available. It'll be mega when it's done though 😉

My loft is about 11m long and I've been thinking about getting an air pistol and setting up a mini range in there, this might just be the nudge I need to do it

Sounds a bit odd mate. Maybe worth checking if there's a restrictor in the fill probe arrangement. Always best to be on the safe side with 200 bar in your hand eh 😉

Quite a few shops have them listed on their websites now mate. Best thing I can suggest is have a really good scour of the web as there's some pretty big differences in advertised price 😉

@allanedwards53493 күн бұрын
You're off to an excellent start there. Until you're fairly consistently getting them in the 9 ring I wouldn't worry about pellet testing at all, assuming you are using a reasonable match type pellet, there will be very little difference between the very best and the worst pellet, just a couple of mm. Use the correct size 10m target so your sight picture stays consistent, sighting area is usually around the 4 ring, you don't want to be wobbling up into the black while aligning your sights. Although you see many top pistol shooters with a very stiff stance now, I would still recommend a much more relaxed stance, giving a natural point of aim. This chap shoots much the same way I was taught and has a good series on basic 10m pistol shooting. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGPCo2midq6eeq8
@tillysgunstocks2 күн бұрын
Thanks mate I'll have a watch cheers! You're absolutely correct regards the pellets. The Econs are plenty good enough for me right now. I'll do some testing just for sake of curiosity mainly but I won't be spending tons on premium pellets until (if ever) need too 😉

@tillysgunstocks2 күн бұрын
The follow through is so important.. I absolutely need to work on it more mate 🤠😉
@BSJ-VT2 күн бұрын
Something that helped me ingrain really good followthrough is, guess what, shooting steel spinners. 😃 Hold till you hear the impact. Trains your brain away from the sear breaking being the trigger to disengage the shot process... Start at 50-60mm and work down to your coin size.
@tillysgunstocks2 күн бұрын
@BSJ-VT good shout mate, I do exactly the same behind the rifles on the metal plate targets. Just helps slow it all down and promotes that critical follow through 😉
@keithnorman35193 күн бұрын
Two things, don’t move your feet when reloading and concentrate on your front sight not the target.
@tillysgunstocks2 күн бұрын
Absolutely mate regards fore sight. I do have a tendency to wander about a bit between shots don't I 😬😆 Need to stop that for sure.. I'm going to do some reading and practice properly for a bit as I feel I can definitely do better 🤠

Hi, hoping to try 10m pistol myself this year, not really sure where to start and how much money to throw at it - any suggestions 👍🏻🥸
@tillysgunstocksКүн бұрын
Hi mate, it's a tricky one honestly as there's lots of budget options and little affordable proper match pistols. This preci pistol is sort of an entry level proper match pistol. I think it'll be a good while (if ever) that I could out shoot it.. I did notice though that immediately the preci was easier to shoot that the pp700 and gamo. It's way better handling,but having said that my experience is very very limited so far 😉
