Just got my Bolide 01 a couple weeks ago and feels great to throw. Ive now just ordrred and am trying out the 23g version. Great review, though I think this is one of the grippiest darts to date and definitely more rhan a '3'.

@@kyleleslie4806 It would depend, if you like more of a front loaded dart I would recommend the 05. If you prefer more of a straight barrel 03 is very good. I prefer the 05 personally, its better suited for the way I hold my dart.

I see what you mean about shipping. I ordered the Designa Patriots the day you dropped the video. Still haven't gotten them. I'm not really bothered. But there was a bunch of other stuff I needed in that order. Going forward I won't cheap out on shipping overseas to CT.

I never throw as well with longer darts - say 52mm+. It could be psychological, as I’ve used heavier titanium stems on some darts and they flew well - and what is the significant difference between a hollowed few extra mm of dart barrel vs. a heavier stem...? I’ve got some One80 56mm (5.6mm thin!) darts and you have to be releasing perfect to get them to fly properly.

I've messed around with drilling darts out or even adding weight to hollow darts like the Ted Hankey's. When you change the internal weight I can't notice any difference in how the dart flies. But once you start adding weight to the extreme ends of the dart like the points or stems then I notice a huge difference in how it flies.

Hey Ed, don't know if this will help or whether I can explain it well without diagrams, but here goes. One of the things we face when throwing is rotation around the center of mass of a dart. If you think about when your fingers and thumb actually lose contact with the dart, if all of them don't get removed from the surface at the same instant, you can put force on the dart and cause it to rotate around the balance point of the barrel. That doesn't mean it's moving sideways, it means it is wobbling or fishtailing in the air. If the dart is longer, that means you might be touching the dart farther from the center of mass, and if you are not releasing perfectly, as you say, then the dart can fishtail more. It's the job of the flight to suppress that fishtailing, and that's a function of both the size of the flight AND the length of the stem (bigger flight and longer stem = more force). If what you see with a longer dart is more fishtailing, then you have a few choices to fix it and what you do is down to your preference: release the dart faster and cleaner (Wayne Mardle suggests actively "popping" your fingers open and off the dart), use a bigger flight and/or try a longer stem. We tend to think that darts come with the "right" stem and flight. Garbage. The reason a standard flight and medium stem is the usual equipment when you buy is that it will provide a reasonable level of performance for most (like 80%) of dart players. If you throw super clean, then the medium stem and standard flight is overkill for you, you can get by with a much smaller flight and short stem and that will give you higher dart speed at the board which is never a bad thing. If you can't throw clean with a given dart, you may need a bigger flight and stem, or a grip position change on that dart, or both. Stems and flights might need to be different sizes for different barrels for a given player, depending on how far from center of mass you are holding different barrels.

I think they fly nearly identical to the Taylor Vision Edge flights. The only reason I go with Cosmo is because I get no robinhoods compared to a traditional nylon stem/flight set up

Yes, the Void's are coated. That's the only difference. I think the Void's are available in different weights though. Not sure.

I always wanted a dart with a tapered nose cone. I think psychologically it makes me think that they’ll group better. IDK ... do you think that there is any advantage to a tapered nose cone on a dart?

Yes, I personally think a tapered nose cone in theory should group better. I'll be reviewing the Gallant M2 with a bull nose soon. Completely different from these Target darts.

Great review as usual, these darts have a great sleek shape, the grips look grippy enough so they do not slip but not too aggressive. Too many modern darts grips are to aggressive and when they clash together in tight grouping they deflect badly.

Spot on! There's way too many grips out there that are completely over machined. On top of that the more aggressive grips tend to wear out quicker. Look at all the top professionals. Most of them use a very basic multi ring dart that doesn't cost much. Yet the companies keep producing tons of "fancy" darts that we really don't need.

There is a huge difference between sandblasted and normal finish, sandblasted has far more grip. Possibly an idea for a future video, send off a set to get sandblasted and compare

There definitely is. The only sandblasting on these darts is down in between the grooves though. Nothing you can actually feel.

Worldwide; really nice review. I have a set of the Swiss SP darts that I ordered when they first came out. I don't like silver points, so I changed them out to the black smooth 30mm points. Other than that, the points have been fine. I do like the looks of that straight barrel design; might have to get a set and try them out. The price point is nice also.
