This is a brilliant film. A lot of people do not see how relavent this movie was in the 80s. People dressed well to travel by airplane. Fathers and sons had tension defused by mom. Children did not understand that boring dad had fought in WW2, Korea, Vietnam. This is a good movie if you disengage your mouth and engage your brain.

I think this was a great movie. To the lady who thought it was boring, I guess there weren't enough car chases and bloodshed. To the man from Ohio who fell asleep, you need to make sure you stay awake when a forgotten classic is playing. I found this movie compelling, without any false steps or gaping plot holes to make one regret watching. Thanks for posting this. It's nice when one can click on some movie and find something as well done as this movie was.

Hachman's ambiguous body language and sudden change to "you don't want to mess with me" look always adds to the plot twist. Great acting, he was in a film as a guy who set listening bugs and got to hear something he shouldn't, I forget the name but it was a tense film. Check out ' Quiller Memorandum ' 1966 with George Segal, Alec Guinnes and Max von Sydow. 'The Black Windmill' with Michael Caine "The Fourth Protocol ' With Pierce Bronsnan, both good Cold war films. 'Fear is the Key ' with Barry Newman if you like a bit of Alistair MacLean with a spectacular car chase across the everglades and a plot twist that is well hidden. Enjoy good cold war spy film. I was in Berlin a few years after this film and it is a fascinating place with contrast between East and West. I preferred East.

I’m the first. I have to admit that it’s not the first time I watched this move. Likely the 4th. It’s a good storyline that is sometimes heartfelt movie that is worth the watch. Suggestion - think about the actors when this movie was filmed and think about the variety of movies they’ve been in to now. Remarkable.
Not a bad effort, mostly courtesy of Hackman. The bit about the lad going to Europe to help find his mom who's been abducted by kidnappers, then suddenly changing tack to chase bit of totty strains plot credibility a tad though. \Many thanks for sharing...

Great eighties flick on a shoe string budget. The old certainties of the Cold War gives it a believable yarn. Matt Dillon is the bottom tier acting wise in comparison to Gene Hackman's performance - 'he's too green.' Paris, Hamburg and Berlin give great backdrops to this espionage caper.
