They are failing for 3 reasons and the top issue this video skirts around it. 1. They went “woke”. They ignored good Americans that didn’t want their children poisoned by outsiders. Having girls swimsuits for boys. Or their anti American stance like the left. 2. They forgot why they became popular. They reworked their stores to have merchandise displayed like a top refined store. You couldn’t find what you were looking for. And prices went through the roof. 3. The experience to check out of a store is stressful. Wait times to pay for merchandise are ridiculous. Plus they push their credit cards so much it’s a big reason I stopped going there. 4. They are way behind online shopping. Takes too long to get merchandise. Plus you can’t just go in their website to shop. You have to go through signing in, many questions… it’s like they kidnap you first. Before you can merely shop. As an aside, I worked with the target management and buyers overseas. They were some of the rudest, nastiest people. Never concerned if they were pushing factories so far as they couldn’t survive. As long as they got what they wanted. When their salespeople (not the friendliest) would call customers, clients…. I laughed. It was a farce. But them going woke and their obstinacy in supporting far left policies that most of America didn’t want… and kept putting it in our face…. I haven’t been in a target in years. And don’t plan to go in one for more years.

Funny you mention that expansion. I was doing a two year stint at a store in Colorado when the Canadian openings happened. Their abrupt pullout of Canada was not due to supply issues but because Canadians were merely talking about unionizing. The word union is a four letter word inside target walls. They rather pulled out of Canada than risk dealing with unions.

As someone who grew up in the Minneapolis area and was in the first Target store on its opening day, it is especially sad to see what it has become when thinking about what it *used* to be. Sears, K Mart, Toy R Us - all companies that used to be huge and yet are now the stuff of case studies in business management classes. Adding Target to the list will be another face palm event. After over a decade of not being in a Target store, I went into one in South OC (Cal) a little over a year ago for some groceries, Prices were consistently higher and the selection was poorer than Walmart. The wine area was disorganized. I wanted Target to be a good resource, and wanted to buy shares as an investor. Hopefully current shareholders do OK, but for me it is a "no-touch". Maybe I will try again in another decade.

I don't agree with Target's politics for sure, but that's definitely not the reason they are failing. My wife works in fulfillment at our local Target. It is a crap show. Their online ordering system is awful. Underinvestment in what the employees need to fulfill online orders, tons of items marked not available because fulfillment can't find the items that are just sitting on loading docks. They don't have the staffing to receive deliveries. They have pallets of perishable items that just rot. The coreperate management is clearly put of their leage.

It has been a long, long time I didn't go to the mall or the shopping center if you prefer. I order pretty much everything from Amazon or online. Even my clothes. I even ask to deliver Costco at home. I just prefer to do something else with my time. Also I don't know exactly where can I get the same thing that I buy online in a retail store. So I buy it online. Why would I loose a lot of time to search if I can do a list online and ask to deliver it home?
