Great timing for me for this video, Jimmy! I'm 70 and have had target panic and poorly controlled shots all my life. Yesterday I decided to shoot a 300 round for the first time in about a year with a light trad recurve with a guitar pick psycho trigger, and my target panic came back in spades. I shot a 121 with 9 zeroes. This evening I was in my tree stand for the first day of the late WV "Mountaineer Heritage" season and found myself hoping the does that appeared at dusk would stay out of range for fear of missing or wounding one! (They did.) Olympic bow clickers work for me, but not the Cricket type (because I know I can let go without shooting through the clicker). I'd like to master Joel's "safety" idea so that I could shoot barebow or any trad longbow or recurve that I want, so I plan to review his course and check out his latest updates :) Best of luck to you, I enjoyed your course with Rod on the Push website, and your older videos.

It’s good to hear you say these things because it all resonates with my own journey. I’ve been experimenting lately saying to myself, “Anchor, now cock the hammer (expanding), now shoot”. Taking the safety off makes sense. Gonna try it.

Thanks for another great video. Your channel has been an amazing resource in my foray into traditional archery. It's been a fun ride that has also been therapeutic for me. Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad the videos have help. That was the purpose from the start.

I’ve been shooting for 10 years or so now and began by watching all of your early videos. Great to see new ones resurface. Every traditional archer should take Joel’s course, it has improved my shooting across all weapons-although the most challenging still remains the traditional bow. What I have found is it gave me the power to self diagnose my problems, which is priceless. I’ve realized though traditional archery cannot be mastered, it’s a dynamic weapon that will always take work

I have had target panic for 11 - 13 years and through numerous brain surgeries and got explanation seemed to mirror my problems. I know that I have problems with my bow arm pushing forward and my release arm slightly plucking. It is obvious and my bow arm seems to drop and sometimes it remains straight. I will work on that first and see if I can unlock it and keep it pushed forward as a release mechanism. Thanks for your help. The brain is our best friend and our worst enemy. Rick

I was fighting with TP (could not get to anchor when looking at a target) and was so fed up with it that I switched hands from left to right. I had originally started shooting right hand years ago so it didn't take to long to start to get comfortable with it. Anyways, I did not have any hint of TP shooting right hand as I was very consciously focused on my form and shot process (nothing was automatic). A few months ago, I went back to lefty and, surprisingly, I was able to talk myself through my shot process, get to anchor, and hold on target.......for awhile. Lately, I'm noticing the dreaded TP creeping back in, but this time it involves getting locked high off target rather than failing to reach anchor. As soon as I try to put my point where it needs to be I start to fall apart or release early. I suppose I could just switch back to right hand again, but I'm left eye dominant, and I have better form and strength shooting lefty.

I have several friends that switched hands and it worked for them. One of them in particular goes back and forth, but when he shoots right handed (TP) he uses a clicker and that works for him.

Good topic Jimmy. I think we all fight it at some point. Joel's class and a clicker have helped me out tremendously. Any reason you don't use a clicker? I've refined mine for hunting and still haven't found anything better for a psycho trigger. Love the channel and all of your content!

I shoot barebow competitively. Can't use it.

I thought I had it cured, but I shot the whitetail classic the worst I ever had. I couldn’t even pull the bow back or focus on any part of the target. It rears its ugly head playing golf also.
