My Airgun Phase

My Airgun Phase

Күн бұрын

After a series of sadly unfilmed mishaps, I finally got the laser centered, all my mish-mash of camera and microphone jumbled together, and filmed my first ever attempt at trying to get a decent group with the AIROW GUN.
It went waaay better than expected.

Y'know, after someone complained about the sound quality, I went out and bought a proper microphone, and it STILL sounds bad. Not being the kind of person who observes themselves regularly, maybe this is just how I sound to people in the real world.

Cool! That works really well! Decent results too, I was going to say use a dot sight not a laser as it won't wobble all over the place like the laser does but if it works for you keep at it. Also the dominant eye thing is not a problem as long as you close one eye! I'm left hand and right eye dominant but I've been shooting for 35? years both bows and guns, I always shoot left handed with my right eye closed. Dominance in vision only affects depth perception in a binocular format when you switch from eye to eye stuff will move with your non dominant eye, this won't affect your optical point of reference if you just keep using the same eye and keep the other shut. I hope that makes sense.

Neat, always super handy information, thank you! In an earlier attempt at the video I rambled on about my eyesight a bit, but felt it wasn't a highlight of the video, but: my right eye is also just fuzzy and messed up in general, and I need to wear my glasses for it to be in focus. Buuut I haven't got used to wearing glasses AND having a highly-tensioned string right next to my head yet. Really good to know about closing AN eye, I didn't know about that. I've been shooting mostly with both eyes open when I can lately, don't know why, just experimenting I guess. So yeah, thank you as always!

@@MyAirgunPhase Glad to be of help. The both eyes open technique is used for tactical awareness and most commonly used with a pistol or dot sight on a carbine by the military, law enforcement, self defence and some tactical related competitions like 2 gun or 3 gun matches etc.. Whilst target shooters always close one eye, you may have noticed many Olympic shooters have device of some sort or other to block the vision of one eye, this is so they don't have to worry about consciously closing an eye, ie one less thing to stress about in a tense competition environment. Just some trivia for you. P.S. the rules of archery don't really need to be adhered to in this unusual situation of shooting a pellet not an arrow as techniques like 'follow through' are specifically to allow clean releases of arrows that are a lot slower and of course longer! Definitely buy a forearm protector!! Anything smooth will do, I once made the mistake of not wearing one shooting a 70lb hunting compound bow and the string ripped out a table spoon (the big one for serving food) sized lump of flesh from my forearm! Hurt like hell, ruined a nice tattoo and took 6 months to heal.

@@shovelchop81bikeralex52 *gag*, dear lord no, that sounds awful, I'm so sorry that happened to you! Lessons were definitely learnt, and shared... I will certainly get an arm protector ASAP. Hopefully you could alter the tattoo to fit the ... "new situation"? And yeah, makes sense about the follow-through. I'm quite curious about the pellet acceleration in the barrel with this, though. Or more specifically, the pressure over time with this compared to e.g., a PCP rifle. I need to find someone who knows how to set up a simulation of it.

@@MyAirgunPhase You could try using a cheap digital manometer over the barrel without pellets of course. It's going to act like a springer/gas piston break barrel rifle with an increase in compression as the piston travels down the chamber just like a petrol engine, the PCP is a near instantaneous burst of 'uniform' compression, like a nitrous oxide boost to a petrol engine or a rocket motor.

@@MyAirgunPhase i would guess this wont be all that different from a springer airrifle...
