Dentures for you sir well im not convinced to be honest I like you have seen this before ok its got some new tech in the way of an interfence fit collar inside the barrel. A bog standard engineering anti shake solution to thread back off and the reason your tooth ended up on the floor lol. the advantage is and its quite a good one is the ability to change points to suit different boards and set ups and a cover for the barrel to point contact are is also a good idea Mr Ryk Latortuga.

Hi Dave, hope your well and the knee is healed! Yeah I dont change points enough to really think this is something I would need, I like the design and engineering and gadgety nature of it but not sure its something we really need, some people will love it I am sure, but the normal system has lasted for a very long time without too much trouble so does it really need to be improved?

Just looked at the price of the Target Swiss darts online and they are a little pricey but they might be a good deal if they make soft tips to fit them. Do you know if that is part of the plan for these? I like the looks of the darts and it would be a bonus if I could use steel or soft tips in them!

Thanks for the review, I hope the dentist bill isn't too much, maybe if you did a trade with the dentist for the swiss darts. I haven't seen a person break a point or heard of one other than the storm points. It brings up a lot of questions, like if i like the dart but not the point then what? or if i like the points but i use RVB 2 then what? To me target are calling us dart players dummies, as we need to quickly change out points all the time. Well I think if you design the points to break all the time then I guess you do. What was wrong with the soft tip thread with conversion point, if you wanted a screw in system? Thanks for the reviews, keep them coming.
@DartsReviewChannel
@DartsReviewChannel 4 жыл бұрын
Cheers! LOL I have not been to the dentist for years, I really should though as I have had a dodgy tooth for a couple of years now and now I have a nick off one which is not good haha! Yeah I have never broke a normal point either :)

Over engineering to a simple problem if you ask me. I do like the idea of being able to change the points when they wear however a re pointing tool and spare points for a fraction of the cost is a better idea. Problem also is if dart players want to use this system they will have to find a new set of darts that not only do they like but feel confident with to replacing their existing sets. Will Target re-engineer all of their current sets to adopt these Swiss points, or will it only be available with new dart models? I play steel tip darts however with a soft tip dart by using conversion points. I think conversion points have already solved this issue, additionally you are able to easily swap tips and play both (soft and steel) forms of the game. I'm all for innovation in darts, however this idea as it isn't new would've taken off by now if it was truly the way forward.
@DartsReviewChannel
@DartsReviewChannel 4 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right regarding the soft tip conversion points and that was one thing I was going to mention too but did not want to over complicate the debate as in the UK its still mostly just steel tip players buying steel tip darts. But you are right also in that to use the system as it is now means having to buy darts with it built in and for most thats unlikely going to motivate them to change to another model if they are happy with what they already have. Cheers! :)
@ryklatortuga4146
@ryklatortuga4146 4 жыл бұрын
the built in weak spot - clever - If you could get a plastic shroud over the join like a trident cone... would be nice I'm not one for swapping points- unless on a soft tipped dart - And they are fine by hand. (Tough lad, I am, me - I don't need to use my teef on points!) I do like the style of the dart though... The Shining carpet design. all work and no play...

The market I believe is big enough especially for darts collectors (like me and you for starters). Personally I've never had a point break on my darts but the system is quicker than the traditional point changing tool. I'll INVEST in a set for my collection though.
@DartsReviewChannel
@DartsReviewChannel 4 жыл бұрын
There is always going to be collectors, but not sure they can rely on just that market alone for something like a new point system. Still certainly the sort of thing I would get if just for the sake of collecting though :)

@jamieshannon9809 4 жыл бұрын
@@DartsReviewChannel Of course it is just another way of extracting cash from customers (someone has to pay for R&D), but also the younger darts players will probably prefer newer technology. I will still use my grippy points on my darts (sourced from a Colourful Mythical Beast Company in Wales) but with this Target system I would probably only buy 2 sets rather than the 4 sets of my other type because I lost a set I'd had for about 25 years and couldn't get a replacement set.
@DartsReviewChannel
@DartsReviewChannel 4 жыл бұрын
I still like the fact manufacturers keep trying new ideas, you just never know when one will be truly game changing so I never want them to stop doing things like this for that reason, but guess they also have to take a gamble too to find ways to keep making money, thats just the nature of business :)

I’ve been using the Swiss points system in the gen 6 Phil Taylor darts for about 2 months now and I have a love hate relationship with them, I love the dart but I hate the Swiss points for one reason and that is the brake off point you mentioned in your review is far to week and snap so easily unless you have a few spare sets with you at all times you cannot use them in any competitions, like I said I’ve used them now for about 2 months and I’ve managed to snap 19 points with normal play 16 diamond pro points and 3 of the firepoint style ones I’ve even snapped a couple of points by simply taking the darts out of the board a bit to aggressively, I believe they are looking into this issue as we speak as I know I’m not the only one who has this issue, so hopefully they have fixed or are fixing the problem as I do love the idea of the Swiss points and would like to carry on using them without fearing them snapping every time I play competitive darts.

Simple answer. No. I think Target are doing just too much again. The launch was of 2 extremes. Either they did too much for a non issue (Swiss points), or gave too little and pasted an unfairly high price tag (Adrian Lewis Gen 4). I just see this as the Fit Point Plus, steel tip version. I may as well stick to using a soft tip dart with a conversion point.

The Swiss point system works well. Points are easy to replace which gives you the ability to experiment with different points. I had no trouble with points breaking too easily, which is a complaint I heard here and there with other users. The grip is unusual but well designed. One really big turn off for me was the quality: it's not what I'm used to and expect from Target. I ordered the 22 grams but the barrels all had different weights:,19g, 21g and 23g! Way to much variation between the 3 barrels. I love Target and I'm vary happy with their daytona and Taylor line of darts but fthis time they dropped the ball. At this price it should be made with more precision. 6/10

A lot of people have had the points break too easily but I did talk with Target on the phone a few weeks ago, they said the latest batch of points are better, but I cant say for sure if thats true or not as I still see people breaking them, but no idea if they have the first batch that was released.

@@DartsReviewChannel I got mine a month or so ago so that was probably a new batch. I tested the spare points with fall outs, bounce outs and even by dropping them straight on to the floor, no issues whatsover. But weighing them was a bit dissapointing, like I said. 3 different weigths fir each barrel, not even including the correct one (22g). Quite a quality difference with for example the Target daytona Fire, for me personally still the best dart ever made. But since I'm doing so well with 21g I´m going to try even lighther. Based on your review, I've got some 18g Ricky Evans darts coming. Looking forward to it!

it wont be good if it adds a lot to a usually cheaper dart, it may depend on the way they improve the speed of machining the barrels for the special point but I think its always going to add a little more than the bog standard points we are used to.

3 years to develop this?? Amazing! 3 years to re-invent the nuts and bolts! I just don't believe them. They say it just to make us think this is some high tech rocketsience, and therefor are stupid enough to pay tons of cash to get our hands on it. And the worst thing is that tons of players will do so.
@DartsReviewChannel
@DartsReviewChannel 4 жыл бұрын
well thats what they said, it could be true as they needed to get the right cutting tools so probably experimented a fair bit until they got it right but who knows. But a lot of things are simple yet still need testing before coming to market, their problem was the points kept coming loose so that was not good, whether they have really cracked that issue I guess we will find out soon enough when people use it. Of course the old system we are all used to works fine, so in the end it did not really need this new one, I would say no..

Playing Darts is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. First of all clean and inspect your barrel, make sure it is spotless and free of dirt that just builds up the more you hold it in your grubby hands and play with it. You may like it but the ladies won't so a bit of soap and wet sponge will get that cheesy green grot out of your groove work. All clean again! Then inspect your point, you'll want your prong to be hard as steel. Treat yours like the professionals and caress away any burrs or blemishes with some industrial materials. If you find your tip is falling out, not a problem that I have mind you, then just twist a piece of sand paper arround your tip, hard. It doesn't sound like a good idea but you want your point to perform on game night and make sure that three in a bed is memorable for everyone because falling out onto the floor will make no one happy." Silly idea that will never catch on. These points cost more than ten times as much as plain steel points, so it's cheaper and more reliable in the long run to get a repointer. Just another excuse for Target to charge way too much for their products (I.e., the ridiculously priced Lewis Gen 4 darts).
@DartsReviewChannel
@DartsReviewChannel 4 жыл бұрын
The points are not that expensive, at £5 its around what it costs to send some darts off to be re-pointed but the problem is at present the system is on an expensive set of darts, will need to see what a bog standard set would cost with this system built in. But at the end of the day do we really need it? I think most people including me think not, I can see some people liking it but the old system is not really in need of fixing as it is.

@@DartsReviewChannel I got the Designa repointer on sale for £20, and spare sets of points are only about £0.50 (and they aren't designed to break!), so it's definitely worth it for me to repoint my darts myself. Another useless gimmick from Target. Will be never heard again just like the Pure range of darts from them in which the point was integrated into the dart itself. There's nothing wrong with how the point are made and used currently. The current system is reliable enough that most people could use a single set of points for their whole life. Machined points might break easier but then again, nobody forces you to use them. Changing your points isn't even that difficult or time consuming currently and most of the players never do it anyways.

Must admit I really disliked the Pure points, too short and thick. Well the current system is certainly not broken, its been used for nearly 100 years I guess, but at the same time if this new system was the norm we probably would not think twice about it either :)

Phil taylor is trying to flog this crap on us, trust me Target will be egging him on to return, just so he can change his bloody points on stage.. Its a gimmick full stop. Why do you think he changed his darts so much, its a money making excersise for Target, granted taylor is good with most of them.. but he is an exception.. Keep it simple, the more you mess with your darts, the more you think about, as the late great Sid Waddel said.. The best dart players are the ones who don't need to think to much.. RVB messed his head up copying Taylor set up years ago, and thowing slower.. Won nothing much after that.. Changeable points! Lol
