In this video we find out if you can repoint Target Swiss point darts with normal points. There's a lot of people out there that don't like Swiss points and this might be a solution #Darts #SwissPoints #OhBoy

Much appreciated for the video. Clarified many of my questions with the installations of the normal points. I myself like longer point, Swiss points seems to only go to 35mm. Seeing Luke Littler’s darts, Shaggy Williams’ darts; they both have Swiss point barrels on display, but they both use longer points yet I don’t see the Swiss point style points. They both use a normal looking longer points. This video answers what I believe they do… thank you!

Do you know if Swiss points are the same diameter as the after-market points? Given that these are friction fit points I'm curious if the thread area is holding the tip end or if the tapered receiving end of the barrel is being utilized. The reason I'm asking is if re-pointing a swiss-point barrel makes a complete mess of things internally and any more attempts at re-pointing will not longer take.

I wonder long term if the point will loosen up in the barrel now though. Because after time the material that was the threads might come lose and allow the point to slide from constant friction of the in and out push and pull from the dart board.

I'm not so sure about Storms. I don't know if the tab would be long enough to catch on the Swiss threads. Always worth a try and if it doesn't work go with the Winmau Freeflo points or the Red Dragon trident points as the metal nose cone moves on those points

I have had a set of Swiss Point sp01 26gr for 16 months and have broken nearly 20 points, I actually bought 5 sets each of 26mm and 30mm at the same time thinking I will last forever. Target said that the first batch points were not up to standards and sent me only 2 sets of the gold plated as compensation saying these would last. Well I have one gold plated point left, it is good to see that I can repoint the sp01 as I like their feel.

@@warrendoll5911 The hole is definitely deeper so you should use a longer point if you're jamming normal points in there. Again, it will ruin the Swiss point threads though

I've been using the bolides and another set with the Swiss points for over a year now and never broke one single point. I kinda like them 😕. Plus if it should brake it's not such a sweat compared to repointing standard points imo. I actually have a set with a broken (standard) point and it broke off completely. So I looked up some video's on how to remove it, and it looks way more scary and expensive then simply screwing a new SP on. Dissolving or drilling it out where basically the two options.

I've seen many cases of broken points posted online. One person broke as many as 8 points in a single day. Some have had the points snap in half on the same day they got the darts. Target provides no extra points with their darts. So there's quite a few out there that have had a horrible experience with them. This is simply a solution to broken points. In fairness to Target they did claim to improve them but how many 1000's of darts got sold with defective points?
@johnbrennan20674 жыл бұрын
Got a set of Bolides yesterday. If they break I'll be doing this 😂. Now spend your next video trying to screw then back in

Anyone tried this method. Im at the point, pun intended, to do this. Love the Bollide barrels. Never had an issue with tips broken for the last 6months then all of a sudden... Points splitting in half.... Not snapping as it should... It splits from the tip upwards. On robin hoods. . Brought this to targets attention.... At first they were quick tonsay they will replace it... Then more happened and now they are ghosting me.

I'm wondering why people don't like the Swiss points? I never broke one of them and if they break they allegedly break at the same spot so they are replaced easily. And I kinda like the idea of switching that fast between colors and types of points. But worldwide is a way more experienced player then me so there must be something in it..
@randymarshole2 жыл бұрын
I've broken about 6 in a 3 month window, most from bounce outs but a couple snapped in the board. Now if you take a set of Swiss points at £6 a pop, it will end up costing me more than the darts. In 20 years of playing casual with normal points I've had one snapped point.
@simeonemascarpone2 жыл бұрын
@@randymarshole I heard that, but never experienced it myself so I don't know why that's not happening to me. I don't throw hard so maybe that's it. But even when bouncing out it never happend once. It's actually the opposite for me. I've broken 2 normal points over the years. I'm looking for a good method to remove the point because one of them snapped off completely. So it's either drilling it out and risking to damage my dart or desolve the point. And I don't have a repointer for the other one so imo it's a way bigger hassle to change normal points. But I get that if you do experience these problems with the Swiss points, your not that happy with them. Although honestly I rather pay a few more bucks then to have to deal with removing and replacing normal points.
@randymarshole2 жыл бұрын
@@simeonemascarpone I do throw hard. Maybe it only affects us that throw hard and by throwing hard it weakens the point over time, so when we get a bounce out it is snapping a lot more frequently.
