One thing I completely forgot to mention in the video is that Tarnished Magdalene can pick up red health when on full health, and when she does so, it will give her a temporary damage boost. I had the test ready and videos recorded for that part but somehow completely forgot to implement it. My apologies!

While TR Isaac needed some big braining, mostly for Blighted Dice and when to use it, I feel like TR Maggy is seriously made for skilled gamers. If you are a good Isaac player, you can easily have like 8 damage in Cellar 1 :D

I think it would be better if you could be drained of all your red hearts but when you have no red health you get a broken heart and a full health effect. That and having cardiac arrest be more like pre repentance glass cannon

Eh... A guaranteed full health is pretty busted my dude, even with the base four heart containers. You'd pretty much have eleven opportunities to fully heal yourself. Most characters might have that once or twice per run at max.

yeah it does! but it gets really hard to gain any DMG-ups afterwards, think of it like the book of Belial where you can't stack infinte ups because rock bottom always keeps track of all the stats

Reading the description of the character on Steam, I thought it would have been kind of lazy rehash of T.Maggy's trope, but it's actually pretty sick ! I wouldn't say the base kit is that OP, considering you can go down to half a heart and you won't be able to get your health back as easily (unless you're using Cardiac Arrest at point-blank range). But I do believe that generating such a large amount of pickups could easily be farmed with the right items... And not just Candy Heart. That's dangerous for sure. The extra damage on every heart taken at max health could also be removed I think. Again, it would be too easy to abuse. And yes, I do concur that the Birthright does a little too much. I believe the attraction of heart pickups could be removed entirely (as I think T.MAggy's Birthright already does that?), as gaining soul hearts so reliably is already a very powerful tool on its own. That or maybe soul hearts generated that way could ALSO drain themselves after a while?

Apparently the matter was discussed in other comments, and it's not that crystal clear if damage taken "naturally" or due to the use of Cardiac Arrest actually do count towards your Angel/Devil spawn chances. If it does, then forget what I said about draining soul hearts.

Health drain seems to be a little too forgiving. I’d say it should be faster like 10-7 seconds. Be fast or die trying. I think this should be a slogan for this character Also i know birthright is not equally good for all characters but blue hearts part i think is a bit too much

The tarnished characters that you've shown off so far are both really cool and I like how they work but I honestly feel like it'd be more interesting if someone made like, the opposite of the tainted instead of just even worse off tainted characters you know? Like blessed versions of the characters that maybe emphasizes the concepts of the characters at the cost of making them weaker in the areas they were already not so good on or something with more healed or angelic themed designs? Still looking forward to seeing more tarnished characters though and will probably grab the mod when it's closer to completion

Someone did have an idea for that once, I think it was Xorel? And I think they were actually called the blessed characters, and had very simple but unique mechanics.

Eh... I don't know. With so many characters, I'm actually all up for unique gameplay mechanics. The base characters are already the "straightforward" options. Like, how would you make a "Blessed Maggy"? Turn her even slower and give her six heart containers? What about Judas? Give him a single soul heart and a pentagram on start? That doesn't sound exciting to me.

@@aleflippy1997 I mean I feel you could still make unique gameplay by emphasising theyre base qualities but you could also focus on the idea of having them as almost an opposite of the tainted versions in a way? So like for Maggie given her standard form is based on high health and tainted bleeds health but also has it drop constantly you could have something like a character who's stats go up the more red health they have, maybe with a pocket active that can convert a pedestal item into

@@P1x1ePr1nce I see... I do agree that such ideas might be cleverly done. But in a way, all Tainted are already twists on what the base character can do. Sometimes with very simple changes, sometimes to the point where you feel like it's a brand new character entirely. But it never hurts to have choices, hence why I'm not against your "Blessed" idea at all. However, I don't really agree that Judas is that straightforward (but he's one of my mains, so I'm biased). His base version got one of the best Birthright in the game ! And even if we don't count that, he got an increased chance to get devil deals (although that hardly benefits him...) AND he got the best damage from the start. He's the glass cannon archetype, a pretty common staple in games really. His strategy, while hardly varied, is pretty much to be "aggressively defensive". T.Judas takes even more skills and care... And yet he's even more damaging. He's now more akin to a Rogue : fragile, but a face-melter that nukes everything, especially when a lot of enemies are present. He can also totally abuse Cursed Rooms, which can yield powerful rewards. I believe a Blessed Judas (or Tarnished for that matter) could follow that "weak but deadly" mentality. I doubt he could become even weaker though...

@@mikre6560 ... T.Judas doesn't though? He gets extra damage through dealing damage, with his Dark Arts ability. T.Judas is the perfect archetype of the "rogue" class, or the "glass cannon" role. Tarnished Maggy doesn't seem to be like that at all : she gambles her health away, but can recover it just as easily.

I personally think that some tarnished chars shouldn't exist. Such as isaac since he went to heaven after the beast. Maggy (I know isaac but represents his mother) makes sense going her though eternity of hell.

Of all tarnished characters, i find this the worst. TR-isaac is just slightly worse T-isaac and his dice is well, meh TR-cain is sometimes bad, but not as bad as T-cain TR-judas... i dont know how is the real experience, but i got the trinket that boosts familliar fire rate, got like 7 clones cause birthright and beaten mr beast. the only problem is that DESCENT sucks, making you accidentally use your emergency card. TR-eden imo the best, that the items dont change quality makes it fair. TR-magdalene... how is that you make a character that is rushy, but rushing being too dangerous????? Shooting your cardiac arrest to an enemy in an open space would make you grab 0-2 half hearts in most of cases, and if you try to do the same with more enemies, you will take damage, and maybe even not grab any hearts. i even died with candy heart, though i got her escense before dying.
