Had this same issue with my Tarot 680 while upgrading to 50 amp esc's . Luckily I had some different motor mounts that worked better , but this idea looks better. Even though I would have had to redo my power and servo lines or extend them. And as far as the amps of the esc's being Overkill, They came with led's lights on them and I got them for a great price, and I am ready to upgrade later if need be.

Hi I just got one of these and the props dont seem to be level do you have a video for correct motor mount placement how best to do this....or just go by eyeball thanks

Seems like a big debate on extending the battery leads vs the motor leads. Have you put any thought into adding a capacitor to the extended battery leads? That is what I did on my 680Pro.

Yeah...I have read the debate, and decided not to add the capacitor. From the best I can tell, it might not be a big deal. If I have problems, I know where to start looking. :)

Hi CPO! Great videos serie about 680 PRO. After that I've decided to build it following all those tips. I've ordered 6 ZTW Spiders 40A like I seen in video and all those are v2 version I've noticed this one has not SimonK firmware. I've tried to re-flash once using a BS40A.hex(HK blue series) but aftet that the rotor doesnt spin and that ESC it's draining so much electric current. Could you tell what's happening?

Hi CPO built my 680 pro at last with alot of help from watching your videos, had one flight and my plastic engine mounts have gone out of level, used the blue colour bolt retaining fluid on all of them, and now i've noticed cracks on the orange mounts at the 8mm bolt holes (inner most 2 only),(placed an order for new ones) have you had any problems with this, thank you

I haven't noticed anything like that. Is it possible you tightened them too much, adding strain that cracked. Also, I added tape to give some grip so they wouldn't spin. If you haven't done that, you might try it.

Removing the capacitors and extending them to a different place? Good idea?

I don't think it's a bad idea. I know some folks who have done this and put the capacitors inside the boom. They need to be as close to the esc as possible to actually do their job. I personally wouldn't do it, but mostly because I just don't know what the result will be long term. But... You won't know if you don't try it. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Great job on taking the effort to put together a comprehensive build video but, just one rub, why did you say "I can only mount the motor with two screws"? Your not the only one saying this. Does it not occur to those to simply locate and drill the very much required mounting holes? Hey, but maybe you had that planed all along, just didn't sound that way in the vid.

So, herein lies the challenge with a one-way communication medium such as video...sometimes it's hard to hit every point just right for everyone...and there isn't an opportunity for immediate clarification -- so thanks for asking this question. I mentioned that I can only mount the motor with two screws because I think people expect that all four holes should line up always. That happens almost always on helis, almost never on everything else! :) I was just explaining my possible orientations (as it relates to which direction my motors wires would exit the motor...and also the benefit of the channel that is created on the underside. I'm glad those were the two screw holes that matched...because it made it easy. Why didn't I drill out the other holes for more screws? Because it's not necessary. You only need two screws to solidly hold the motor in place. Four isn't required.

Heya, any chance you know which simonk firmware files these controllers take and if the can handle comp_pwm? I blew up two ipeaka 40a escs and i suspect it's the comp_pwm killing them. The thing is I can fly for hours before anything happens so i'm not sure...

Why on earth would anyone want to use 40A ESCs on a 680. Total overkill IMO.
