Okay so this is an older video BUT it's really great and helpful! It's always a good reminder when feeling overwhelmed that there are lots of different approaches. The way I've really been able to learn the cards, besides just the practice doing spreads and looking up the meanings/applying it to the queries, has been to do a deep dive on each card. Basically taking each card one at a time (not necessarily in order) and really focusing on that particular card in all the decks I have and thinking about all the ways it connects to my life or all the things it reminds me of. And Googling a whole bunch on that particular card x) I guess it's sort of like a daily draw but honestly more like a weekly/monthly thing because it can take a while for each one to sink in :P

What a really interesting video, thank you for this. But thank you especially for saying that no one is the 'Tarot God' type thing, no one is in a position to say your reading is wrong, so true. I have tried book learning, tried to just remember the traditional meanings of the cards, but for me it doesn't work, I work better with an expressive deck that I connect to emotionally and I read intuitively, though I'll be trying some of the other suggestions you've made now too! You gave some great tips on learning the tarot. I've been trying different methods, including the coloring book. I'm having trouble retaining the simple meanings and get overwhelmed with the amount of cards to learn. That's my main issue. Question: When sleeping with the cards, are they to be bundled in cloth, rubber banded, or loose? Thank so much for this vid.

I have. A question...I'm Confused, for a beginner who is learning... you say to read a card you can use one of the 6 ways, and one being symbols in the card. So if a symbol in the card pops out at me e.g.THE HERMIT'S 'LATERN' number 9 in the major Arcana of the RIDER WAITE DECK how in the heck do i know what THE LATERN MEANS AND WHAT IS IT TRYING TO TELL ME AND I HOW DO I USE IT TO INTERPRET MY READING? im so confused can you help me?

Thank you for the question. Then you can ask yourself. What do lanterns do? they light things and light our way. That is connected to the Hermit Card. It is a way to explore the meanings in a lateral way.

Thanks for the video, its great and very helpful!! I have personally tried all the methods that your have mention, even get books to read about the cards. I have a personal journal to write down the meanings of the cards. I find that if you do a reading depending on the position of the cards sometimes they will give me a totally different meaning. There is one method where i would put part of the tarot under my pillow and dream of it, to get some extra meanings of the cards. One question, do you create your own spread for readings?
