Some KZbinrs specialize in doing unboxings, which is fine because I like to see decks before I purchase them. You, however, are at the top of my list when it comes to learning about divination systems; I even take notes. I realize you put a great deal of time and effort into preparing your videos! Thank you for having such a wonderful KZbin channel!

Oh, wow....so many things! First, The Music Man reference made me giddy. Hilarious! (And if you're looking for an interesting non-tarot read, there's a book out called The Secret Life of Musicals, which looks at how great musicals are made and it's FASCINATING.) Second, this is all kind of blowing my mind, because you're hitting at a few things that have been simmering in the back of my mind.... First, the relationship between the cards the suits.... I keep thinking about the 3 of Swords, right, because we learn that as heartbreak, sadness, loss, depression... BUT: those are water concepts. We're in air. So, sure, 3 of Swords, sad, yeah; but how does that relate to the intellect/mind/communication/all-those-air-concepts? It's got to be something a little different. (Which is why I think of another Music Man song with that card ...."The Sadder-but-Wiser Girl") ... so there's something incongruous about 3/Swords being just, like, "sad." That's the clearest example, but there are others. So I've been thinking about the "purity" of the suit, and the relationship to the card's meaning. (Our thoughts can make us sad, but it's the THOUGHT that's the initiator or the core...) So, anyway, ramble ramble... but your work in this area has is kind of making me think, "OH, right... Of course, because Waite was playing fast-and-loose with a lot of tarot, because he thought he was right...and may have actually been trying to HIDE some things from general audiences...) The other thing that this hits on is my feeling, lately, that there's a way for tarot to address questions both poetically/spiritually, but also practically... And in a consistent suit/concept approach, it feels like there's something in there to be wrestled with. So... wowza. LOTS to think about. Incidentally, I also feel like you're sowing the seeds of the tarot book you're eventually going to write......... Which I personally can't wait for you to make happen. ;-)

:D :D I WONDERED if you'd see this lol!!!! I love the feeling you've been having that you can address questions both poetically/spiritually, and might I add psychologically, AND practically. I think these older decks, so much closer to cartomancy, really leave open that older, blunter, practical cartomancy style reading! And O.O to the book, greater minds have been there and done that, I do want to write a book but it will likely go through many divination systems :D

When I got the Crystal Tarot I knew something else was definitely going on in the minors. But when I went to research it, it was such a crazy rabbit hole that I gave up since I was a newbie. So a huge Thank You!!! To you for going where others feared to tread. ;) We love the nerd in you so much. You make us all better more informed tarot readers.

OMG KELLY! I'm watching this video, and I see why they used the Picard system for the Universal Wyrth deck. It's the sacred geometry figures Levi wrote about in Transcendental Magic when explaining the numerology of the major arcana! Wyrth's majors were based off of Levi, and Picard finished what Wyrth started to make a complete tarot deck! Thank you for sharing this video! I was turned off by the Universal Wyrth deck because the images of the majors deviate too much from Wyrth's original artwork. But now, I may have to get this deck. With the way I've been reading Marsielle decks, it's very much aligned to this Picard system that I was previously unaware of. Number/suit/element/positioning of pip/qabbalah tree of life sephiroth. (7 of cups = emotional stability supporting creative growth/action resulting in victory or reveresed emotional instability causing destructive actions resulting in defeat.)

:D I'm obsessed, I've found a couple other decks that use this "shape" aspect but Picard really pulled it together and made it uniform across the whole minors, I'm just loving it. I'm not a huge fan of the majors in the Universal, but I'm actually really enjoying reading with it as it stays the most consistent to Picard!

Hi! I discovered your channel looking for reviews of the Crystal tarot. Then, I read a comment you made about this video, and here I am. I absolutely enjoyed it!!! You really did your research. I knew El gran tarot esotérico, which was designed by Maritxu Herlanz Guller (a tarot reader and astrologer from Spain), and was aware of Picard´s influence on it (as well as Levi, Papus and Etteilla). Thanks for this comparison! I see that you are really interested in knowing the history of Tarot and the so-called "pip tarots", so I´m sure I will see many of your videos, and I will also subscribe! Greetings from Argentina! And sorry for my English! :D

I throughly enjoyed this video and found it very fascinating and really interesting! I personally don't own any decks with the switched associations but I'm quite smitten with that Oswald wirth tarot. Lo scarabeo have done a great job of recreating those images so faithfully, save a few odd bits. I love the thoughts behind the swords suit being associated with water and 'many tears' haha Thankyou :)

Hi Kelly, I´m looking for Picard on the internet, but it´s very hard to find information. I´m so glad that you did this video. I had so many insights with the minors. Hope that some independent artist does it a tarot with the Picard structure because my Universal Wirth came with a card defect (color defect) and I don´t want to buy another... anyway I will try to covert the defect... I already modify my deck as you did, cutting the borders... it's so beautiful!

Hi! You wrote your comment a year ago… Kelly did this video 5 years ago… But I’m just re-watching it now in March 2022 … reigniting my older interest in the Eudes Picard. Was that blog post yours?? I’d love to hear more about where your journey with the Knapp Hall and Thomson Leng decks took you. The Leng card meanings are straight up Picard… and I’m thinking they found their way into English tarot via the Encyclopedia of Occult Sciences - UK edition published in 1932….
