Tarot Tutorial: Spotting Fake Decks

Hey fam!
I’ve been waiting weeks to do this video for you. Fake decks are so commonplace now it’s sad. So for those of you who find it hard to spot the fakes, I decided to do a video on some of the ones I’ve seen. Below you’ll find links to the real decks if interested in purchasing.

I loved this video. I have just started getting back into tarot. I would never choose a deck if it did not have a guide book. I love packaging and presentation. If the creator took the time to write a book then I want the whole package. Tarot seems to be a very collectible item. I did watch Doreen Virtue when she bid adieu to her audience because she had an epiphany. Her epiphany did not sit well with most of the community. I thought it was very strange behavior to swear off the very things she created. She left people questioning what was the whole Doreen Virtue experience about. Otherwise, I’ve seen the other decks you talked about in this video and I can truly say I have wanted the same decks. The Hoodoo deck is new to me. I do have friends on TikTok and IG who practice Hoodoo. I was happy to hear you give your opinion about stealing intellectual property and disrespecting the history of African Americans. I appreciate your love for culture and ancestry. These concepts play a big part in leading a spiritually driven life. Our ancestors matter and they deserve to be honored and respected. Wish and AliExpress started this trend, and I wish international copyrights existed so they couldn't copy any of the real decks. It would be one thing if a deck is completely out of print and will never be republished, i.e. Doreen Virtue decks. I have my own reasons for not purchasing anything with her name on it, but I digress. I have to replace two of my decks as I received two fakes as "gifts". Thanks for this!

Whew! I saw The Light Seer's deck in the thumbnail my heart dropped! I havent mastered this deck yet but just to know that what i got is real is everything.. The imagery in this tarot is beautiful😍

i have bought the modern witch tarot from the publisher and the card quality puts me off.. i struggle shuffling them so i never really used them. so i think i will get a knock off. thanks for the comparison ✌🏻

So sad that this is so common now, and the real modern witch tarot is on amazon for 14-15 dollars right now so there is really no reason for a fake.

Honestly some of us have issue, as since BookDepository has been destroyed, we must buy decks from resellers, as we live in countries to which most book stores don't ship at all... So I always do my due diligence to be sure that I got the actual deck... So it takes effort, but is extremely important 😊 So now I ordered Light seer's Tarot, from a reseller in my country, who sworn to me that deck is original, but I have to research it, before I receive it tomorrow... So I am watching endless videos on how to spot a fake... I would love if original authors could put in place a way for us to confirm that the deck is original... I check barcode, if there is a book, size of the cards compared to size in the description on original website, size of the box and so many more things... I would love some kind of watermarked seal, so I could just look at it, and be sure I got a real thing... Do you have any other suggestions on how to spot a fake, when they want to hide the fact that it is a fake? Not when they put QR of some BS website and google drive... As that is easy to spot 😊

Now I understand why my Spidey senses told me “no” when I saw the decks for less on EBay. Something didn’t feel right and now I know why. You are my Angel, CKB 🕉 P.S. Thank you for this. This makes me so paranoid to start creating my own deck. Thanks to this video I realised that my Tarot del Fuego deck was a fake. I was praying that QR code wasn't on there but there it was. You are right. When I bought it I had no idea there was such a thing as fake decks as I am still a newbie.

As a beginner I even fell victim to some fake decks from Walmart and eBay. I even paid $20 for a deck on eBay thinking it was the real one. I was mad about that. I was thinking it coasting that much it had to be the real one. I was wrong. Thankfully I got a refund. As for the fake ones that I found out was also fake & I connected with I went out & bought the real ones.

Yeah the fake ones work for some people but it’s hard when you’re a beginner and you don’t get a guidebook or anything. To me, it’s worth the investment to just get the real thing.

I brought a green witch tarot and gotten a fake on amazon made me angry because it was about 31$! Everyone in the reviews gotten the real thing. Im not sure how that happened.Just a fake deck for 31$ feels like a rip off. I personally understand some people can't afford the real deck. I respect their choice. Btw the hoodoo deck is great. It definitely helped me with a crazy situation before it happened .

Totally agree 👍🏽 I can not stand fakes. I have seen so many online and usually they all do come in those little tuck boxes so thats a massive give away. I like to try buy direct from the creators if I can and let them have their full backing of their creation, if not I buy from amazon direct. (Not amazon market place). 🙏🏽
