Disabled to discourage the Shug haters... how many could there be??? You were the reason I now sit in the woods for hours at a time. You showed me how. Bradley Campbell plus I like how Shug NEVER asks for you to subscribe or like his stuff. his how to videos and gear reviews get most of the views, but his trail reports are my favorite. I have seen a sharp increase in his subscribers just in the past couple of years. his subscribers also view most of his videos (very loyal viewers).

Got out with my dad for our first winter hang, you’re spot on about learning from mistakes. It was magical but I have to take some of your advice n get warm before bed. If you have time to see my latest video I overheated(I think) and my tarp stretched over night so ended up with butt to snow, cold but so peaceful. My UQ stayed nice n dry but my hammock, TQ and myself were soaked/iced! Practice practice practice. Thank you for all the inspiration Shug, all secure

Ahhh....your underquilt protector was between your hammock and UQ and created a vapor barrier thus all the condensation on your hammock. Looks like you had 2 underquilt protectors. Lose one of them and use it on the outside of everything. Ya'll ate well for sure. Looked good.

I worked at a bait and tackle shop as a teen and one of my duties was boiling peanuts out behind the store. We had a couple of big propane turkey fryers. Boil 'em until they were soft, turn off the heat, stir in a bunch of salt, and let them soak a while. Then you bag them suckers up and watch them fly off the counter!!! Woooooo!

Hey Shug. I was practicing with the tarp preparing for some wine and rain that was coming. I graded the effort as a fail. How about a video or two on your approach for staying dry in wind and rain specifically. If the wind comes in and it wants to blue rain at the end of your setup what's the plan? It's to late to change the hang. Thanks for all your videos. They bring knowledge and joy!

Site selection. DOORS ON TATP. Tarp pitched lower, maybe pile some limbs around the tarp, bigger tarp with doors.

Ya man tarpology! Loving it, can't wait until Part 2. Just a beginner hanger myself, and big questions after a few trips are: ridge line over vs under, vs none; associated drip issues especially with tarp ridge under, etc?. I always wondered with ridge line under, if the rubbing on delicate silnylon or cuben will abrade the coating and cause it to leak? Oh the questions! :o)
@shugemery
@shugemery 10 жыл бұрын
I am an off the ends type. Under the tarp can cause drips depending on the angle, type of cord etc. I can happen. Never had a rubbing problem. Sil is pretty tough.

Same on the newbie - even though I have been on the forums and shug's videos for a year. I bought my first hammock a year ago, and have only hung it once. I need to get a tarp and net, and should then be on my way. This Shug shugity shug shug guy has great info! ;)

You know what they call a hammock in our neck of the woods Hoop? A black bear enchilada lol. I like a full Blackbird Warbonnet Supertarp in such circumstances, feel a touch more secure :) I'm a ridge line underling myself, love the clothesline but must admit haven't run into how well it will perform in prolonged rain conditions. Did perfectly well in the thunderstorm in the wee hours last September anyway. From the looks of it I'll have my opportunity this summer. Would recommend extra tie downs and stakes for the mosquitoes this summer, they're epic!?
