Man I was never a hammock person but how could one not enjoy shugs videos. After watching many any of them. I try an not miss any of them now. But seeing him enjoying the hammock as much as he does an coffee from the hammock ect with the tarp front raised being able to look out an relax. I definitely started buying hammock an tarp gear ect an had to give it a shot. Since than haven’t looked back to any tent. Unless it’s a big tent for the wife an kids. If if wasn’t for shug I doubt I would of even given hammock camping any shot

+shugemery Shugemery, actually the knot you tied in the end of the dyneema to create the bight was a double overhand knot. When you put the loop thru the D-ring and pulled the tag end thru, that's a larkshead knot. Great vids, thanks for sharing your hammock camping info! Will be trying out a structural ridgeline due you your vid.

I tried all sorts of knots but about two years ago I discovered the Nite Ize Cam Jam. Tie a permanent loop knot on one end, then simply thread the line through the hole, pull through the cam and you are done. To tighten it, pull and seat the line in the cam. To loosen it pull it out of the cam. Done. They weigh almost nothing. They work for ridge lines and tie outs.

When you tie your "slippery half hitch" knot, it has been drilled in my head to never use the rope line leading to your tarp as it may slip. Always use the knot end (part) around tree. For tarps, this would be okay, I'm sure, but for a hammock, last thing I want is knot coming undone. I've seen it happen. Clarify if I am correct or doing it backwards.
@shugemery3 жыл бұрын
I'd be wary of a slipper half-hitch holding up your hammock with you in the hammock. Better to use the Beckett hitch. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXmrn5aupcSGrA

Thanks for taking pity on us grounders because a lot of your tarp setup stuff will work for us. Thinking of going to a tarp plus bivy instead of my SMD Trekker, just for variety you know. Then I could look under the tarp and see Bigfoot's big hairy legs walking around my camp at night. Your daughter has Ginger Genes, make a good name for a rock group.

Now that is good camping! She did get those genes for sure. She is a pro knitter too....
