#1 on the prep rigged guy lines. I've had 5 (yes, FIVE) Tarptents and I put these guy lines on the last 4 of them. So when it thunders. lightnings and begins to pour buckets at "zero dark thirty" I can very quickly guy out my tent and get back inside. (Of course that also means knowing EXACTLY where the guy line stakes are located in the tent bag.)

Very thorough clever evaluation. Thank you! I just bought the Rainbow silnylon 1P tent. I haven’t tried it yet because there’s some snow left and the ground is frozen. I’m looking forward to use some of your well thought out tricks. My first reason to buy this tent is the high arch design . I was fed up with rubbing my head on a condensation wet fabric every morning.😊

Really appreciate seeing your modifications. I’ve had this tent over a year and love it. Only bad experience was during very high winds in an exposed campsite in Joshua Tree National Park. I had no extra guylines unfortunately and late in the night the violent winds caused the main arc pole to break, causing the tent to collapse. Since then I’ve used the tent by adding the little aluminum brace over the broken section but I’m planning to get the carbon fiber replaced so I can properly use the tent again. I was almost thinking of getting a different tent that can better handle high winds, but after seeing your modifications I’d like to stick with this tent and add some extra guylines which I think will help next time.

Thanks check out my DD vs XMid vid. You will see it in some moderate winds. I don’t think you can beat the DD Li

Nice just ordered Rainbow LI blem less ounces/$ and still good size 36" wide, but 50" double is a palace for one and nice for your dog. If I have trek poles I porch my doors helps a ton for condensation while still having coverage and I like the porch rain guard flap. Only concern is loosing the black cross pole which I did once rushing packing up in rain. I may put some bright electrical tape on it!

My friend forgot/lost hers on night 3 of a 2 week trip. Fortunately, she was in an region that had a bountiful selection of sticks and small branches so she was able to find a new stick every night before she made camp. When she got her replacement support she added a small bit of neon reflective tape to the ends. Now it also has the added benefit of making the tent easy to spot at night returning from a bathroom run with a small bit of light.

Thanks for your tour of your tent and your useful mods. 😁 I’ve just ordered the 1P silnylon Rainbow. The double dyneema looks tremendous. For my hikes in the hills I was just a bit doubtful whether the extra width would fit some of the spots I’ve squeezed small tents into in the past. If I love the 1P Rainbow I may of course upgrade in a couple of years!

Awesome tent - super spacious for one, usable for two. Easy pitch and so versatile with trekking pole free standing mode. Thanks for the stuff sack tip. ZPacks Medium-Plus is perfect size for real world, not exactly perfect rolls. Cheers

Great review! Nice channel and videos. A buddy of mine had the Double Rainbow, but not the dyneema version. This tent looks awesome. Nice idea with the stuff sack. New follower here. Crow
Nice review and top tips. I’ve just bought the double rainbow dw ultra and excited to get it out. My scarp carbon crossing pole is exactly the same size as the main arch pole and fits in the sleeve of the main arch pole to double pole it. How has it fared in wind. I intend to use it for the milder seasons in the uk but be good to know your experience. Atb

What size zpacks stuff sack are you using for the tent body?
@evacoutdoors58672 жыл бұрын
It’s the medium plus, I also got the pole bag and a stake bag from another supplier as the Tarptent one only fits the short stakes. I think it would go in the medium Zpacks also.

I’d be careful about adding the guy-lines to the arched pole if I were you. Preventing the tent from flexing in high winds, as designed, will significantly increase pressure on the tent overall.
@evacoutdoors58672 жыл бұрын
Why are the tabs there then? The guys will not prevent excessive flexing, they will relive pressure on the corners and distribute the loadings.
@DavidKD20502 жыл бұрын
@@evacoutdoors5867 oh sorry. I thought that you added them yourself. 😬
