The tracking on his lunge attack in the 2nd phase is so op its insane

not just that but also its ridiculous hitbox, it deals damage even if animation is already finished...

Dalion Your attacks deal damage after the positive movement has stopped too. If an enemy runs into your weapon while you are in an attack animation and hardened it will even do damage sometimes. You have way more I-frames in this game than souls games, you can roll through the attack and behind him for a free spank, especially if you’re using Tiel or Harros.

This is, like, my biggest gripe with this game as a whole. It's not always an issue, but when it comes to certain enemies (and bosses like Tarsus) it sure is. Not being able to tank blows with shield (like a noob that I am) doesn't help much, hardening still isn't the best alternative to me. And roll/dash delay isn't making life easier. Rolling direction is messed up most of the times, too. After dozens of tries I guess it's better off just to accept one's futility, and boot up a good ol' trainer, I suppose.

Really don't understand why they would make it to where you can't go back and upgrade your weapon... that's kinda a bad choice in level design imo.

Yeah, I accidentally swapped my weapon with a Tattered Vestment and had to fight Tarsus with an unupgraded Hallowed Sword because I couldn't go back. I kinda enjoyed the challenge though but imagine that happening to a new player.

Same dude this is the first boss I've stumbled across. I killed that Grisha and just ran past everything past it because I thought it was the boss and there would be treasure down here. No, just an actual boss.

Same, killed a few bosses and grabbed a few weapons as a beginner. Came to the dungeon boss and I’ve already died well over 20+ times. Need this video for the second phase

@@theeagle6390 I managed to beat him after a handful of tries. The amount of time each attempt took was the most annoying thing. I had the Martyr Blade on, no upgrades and was doing 11 damage for most of my hits. I don't know if I could have done this if I hadn't been in the shell with the large HP pool. In that second phase I eventually stopped doing anything but punishing him when he would dash backwards and dash back forwards to attack. Harden, hit him once or twice (or however many times, I didn't have much stamina) and retreat. If he's slowly walking towards you and you start to walk towards him he will frequently start the cycle of dashing back and then dashing forward to attack.

Vance Cole thanks! Never really thought of it that way, I mainly did a lot if parrys for my dps and always though he dodged back when I attacked. Now that I know he does it just by walking I’ll definitely being giving that trick a try. Thanks again and I’ll let you know how it goes👍

Lol I thought I needed all the item shown in the workbench to upgrade my weapons. I didn’t realize I just needed the acid so I’ve been playing as Eredrim to boost my damage and it’s actually done the job I’m in the narthex as we speak

You can backtrack, you can walk back at any time. Did you not play DS1? That’s pretty much exactly how that worked.

@@kolbywilliams6288 not here you cant. once you beat the Enslaved Grisha , you can;t turn back anymore because you drop off a ledge in order to enter his arena. You cannot climb back up once you've done this.

I'm currently using the mace as my weapon of choice and by doing a 2 light attack and one heavy attack combo you can stagger once Tarsus plunges the sword for the aoe. This is more reliable in the 1st phase because getting the timing right in the 2nd phase is quite tricky. Not impossible but very tricky. Hope this helps.

Yeah, it's a really interesting decision to offer advice the whole first phase, but not say a single word about the second. I'd say the main thing is just baiting out his lunge attacks, as they're easy to punish. And just stand outside the icicle range of his AOE until it finishes. Naturally try to avoid getting knocked out of your shell in phase one, and if you died, wait to pick up your old shell until phase 2 if possible for the extra heals.

I beat it with a +1 Weapon and Tiel. It was tough took me around 10 tries, but once you learn his combos it really helps. He's very slow. Just take it slow, and you can get him. Don't rush into it. Use harden while attacking him on the second phase, the first phase just wait for him to do is triple swing where he shoves the sword into the ground, you can easily hit him while he's stuck for a moment.

Blizzard tip: harden when the blizzard starts and hold until he comes and hits you, then hit him at least once to stop the blizzard. If you don't hit him, the ice damage will drain your life away but it will stop once you hit him. Also save your special attacks for phase 2 and spam them once his health is below 50%

anyone reading this. when he starts doing that AOE move DONT RUN AWAY!!! close in on hin quick and pummel him with all you have. it is free damage as it interrupts that move

It does not always interrupt. So i stopped trying that tactic. Ended up beating him still, but yeah if you can time it correctly it's good extra damage.

Tip: Reduce ur effects and post effects setting to low for this fight. Make it easier to spot him when he teleports far.

easy way to beat him is use mace 2 light attks folowed with heavy attack stuns him on the heavy u dont even have to hit both light attack just harden and wait for him to get into range with the heavy unharden will stun him for 5 seconds :)

You didn't mention how to riposte him, this causes major damage. Harden when he does his 3x combo and riposte on the second swing.

Beat him on my 3rd try with Harros. Had to use 2 heals though. Not the worst. I know it’s not a Souls-Like, but I haven’t come across anything nearly as awful as the final Valkyrie in God of War.

Eh, you'll be fine with a +3 weapon. I beat him 2nd attempt last night using the sprinting plunge attack and smoke checked him pretty easily. Just need to wait for him to finish his combo and lunge at him With the Hollow sword. Keep him at medium-ish distance and let him come to you. Excellent fight however.

Lingering hitboxes and an absolute slog of baiting out the 2nd phases attacks make this boss just straight up garbage. Everything else you can at least deal with accordingly

Was overconfident after beating the enslaved grisha first try...15 minutes later this guy shows up and keeps wiping the floor with me. Did so many runs that I can do phase 1 blindfolded....but man phase 2 sucks. Btw: if your fast enough you can interrupt his AOE in the beginning and do major damage....its risky though.

Not sure whether my game is bugged, but when he does his icicle in attack in phase 2, even if I avoid all the icicles my health just starts draining as if I'm poisoned or something.

If you go too close to the outer wall of the fighting arena im pretty sure the cold starts depleting your health

This guy was such an Artorias wanna be. Got him on the 4th try when i found you can stagger him as he puts the sword down for his Aoe. It was easy after then. Watchout for his reverse swings tho. The hitbox on that is broken and i get hit by his shoulder even lmao.

I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE AFTER MY 46th try I LEARNED DURING HIS SECOND PHASE RIGHT BEFORE HE PUTS DOWN HIS SPIKES IN MY GAME IF YOU ARE USING TIEL ARMOR RUN TOWARDS HIM HARDEN RIGHT BEFORE HE PUTS DOWN THE SPIKES THE HE WILL DO A BACK DASH AND THEN TRY AND POKE YOU THIS IS WHEN YOU LAND ON HIM AND UNHARDEN dealing more damage to him also IF YOU HAVE RESOLVE (the yellow bars) and using the hallowed sword while he’s dashing hit L1-R1 To use your special and staggering him down mind you using this spike strategy for me also staggered him cause I would use the jump heavy attack followed by a combo of heavy attacks right after i harden in my game he froze right after he poked me shortly after putting down the spikes this is how I beat him after trying so many times

Can't beat him because my sword does such little damage. Can't get back to Fallgrim because there's no way to back track out. Stuck. No healing items because I fought the guy multiple times and had to use them all. I heard people have this problem and have quit the game.

@@adoormarkedpirate378 It was very difficult. But eventually I beat him. But the way back, it's difficult in it's own way. A gauntlet of tough enemies and the healing spots are no longer there.

I bought it cause it showed it in this video and in trailers then none at all just a mist...still a good game but it makes combat less immersive and rewarding for me. It felt like false advertising and I was highly disappointed..I hope they patch it back in.

This is such a bullshit fight. And it's not the fight, it's just that there is no good Weltcap farm, and only one where you don't have to take out enemies. So you usually get two after dying, unless you died in phase 1, and then you have to wait 5 minute for each Welcap 2x. In my experience 6 weltcap are not enough for phase 2. So you have to wait 15-20 minute to get enough to have shot. At least I can go through phase one without using any, but it so difficult in phase 2 to know what attack I should use hardned for. I'm also doing this boss with a 2+ sword, as I thought this would be the easier route because of it started with the Beta path. I really hate this games healing mechanic. Waiting 5 minutes for Welcap is not a lot of fun. I guess I will spending long time farming them after I beat this boss. Is there anyway to get back from here to the three without having a shell max level? I would like to max out my sword. Right now I seem to be stuck here. Update: I beat it 20 minutes after I originally wrote this, with 8 Welcap, and I used them all. It so bullshit. Also you get no tar for killing it?
