Another great video. I only ever wear one tartan at a time. And I only ever wear my clan kilt, flashes, and tie, at weddings.

I wanna know your opinion on mixing tartans and florals. There's a long history of beautiful brocade and beautifully embroidered men's waistcoats... thoughts on mixing a tartan with a floral waistcoat as long as the colors are cohesive? Yes, its definitely over the top but I'd love to figure out if its out of context historically.

Hey guys, great vid as usual Gid tae hear some American views on tartans and tweeds ect.. also great tae see folk keeping our traditions alive outside of Scotland Also your pronunciation of " uisge beatha" is a wee bit off "Uisge" is fine but the "beatha" part is pronounced "bay-hi" The "hi" sounds like the start of "hill" Fantastic vid keep it up Cùm gu math agus slàinte mhòr

I own an LGBT tartan kilt from Celtic Croft (rainbow colored with a lot of red). I don’t yet have the flashes so I wore it with some Ulster flashes that work good with it.

Have you considered wearing solid color flashes? For example solid white flashes or solid red flashes with your LGBT kilt?
@rapierdude2 жыл бұрын
@@richardwhite3924 I currently don’t have any. I’ll be buying the matching flashes soon, along with a tie.

@@rapierdude Among my tartan flashes, I have a solid white and a solid black set for times when I do not have tartan flashes to match the kilt I am wearing.

Reminds me of the day I had a conference all day and came home to a 2 year old wearing a plaid button down shirt and plaid overalls and polka dot socks. None of the plaids match and oddly enough the socks had nothing, even colour, in common with the plaids. It was quite visually dynamic. This is why we have garanimals! LOL.

If I wanted to pull off two tartans (or was forced to do so at gunpoint), I would buy a waistcoat in Shepherd check (preferably a small sett size) to wear with my kilt(s).

I’ve considered a weathered tie with an ancient kilt. Haven’t done it yet, tho...

Im thinking about getting a tweed package from you guys. Im a solo bagpiper and i dont have anything to wear someone asks me to do a wedding or funeral. I dont like the military look, but the tweed setup looks more my style and nice enough for a performance. I just dont know where the start in picking something out. I can barely pick out my clothes in the morning to go grocery shopping.

Hey man, I also play pipes and it is a hassle picking out something to wear when yer doing something on your own One thing I would say is that it all depends on the occasion, but in general for tweed suits I would usually go with something grey or brown with a kilt that has earthy tones (hunting Stewart for me) hope this helps :)

@@jamesstewart5011 Well i know for sure that Im not getting more than one outfit. So one is going to have to serve all functions. Its rare that anyone asks me to play for them. Its more common that they ask me to stop.

@KingOfKings I'm not a bagpiper, but I bought a tweed jacket and waistcoat specifically to wear to weddings and funerals. In Saxon clothing, charcoal is the most widely agreed upon traditional suit color for weddings and funerals, while navy is a close second. (Black is great for funerals, but there's mixed opinions regarding its appropriateness for weddings.) Therefore, I went with charcoal for that tweed jacket and waistcoat. I own tweeds in other colors, but I wear them for less conservative/traditional occasions.

@@karlr750 I dont know much about this stuff... but for the kilt I was gonna choose the Murphy tartan, if that is a real thing. Because thats my family origin. So maybe charcoal tweed jacket/vest with that?
@jamesstewart50112 жыл бұрын
@kingOfKings, there is a Murphy tartan and it is a really nice one, it has a green base with yellow accent thingys outlining black stripes, So for that colour scheme personally I'd go for a light brown jacket and waist coat but grey would also work fine :) Just take a look at some people on Google wearing different colour tweeds in the kilt or same colour of the kilt you will wear

No tartan flashes or ties ever, under any circumstances, with any kilt. Mixed vest and kilt? Tread carefully, but artfully.
