Hi Risa! Thanks for the comparison on these two concealers. I own the Nars but bought the Shape Tape concealer because of all the excellent reviews. Unfortunately, it left my under eye area looking very dry. Maybe I used too much or my skin is just so dry (I live in Vegas too). I found myself going back to the Nars or the Maybelline Fit Me concealer. I'll try your technique and see if that works for me!

I think it's more of a landslide win if you consider the prices per ounce & how little of the Tarte, sold at around 1/3 oz., you use verses the large amount of Nars used at about 1/5 oz. Nice compare!

But, 1/3 oz is actually more product than 1/5 oz. It is .33 oz compared to .20 oz. You are getting more than 50% additional product in the Tarte. But I did appreciate the comparison Risa!

Rhonda Henderson We know 1/3 is greater than 1/5. The less & more is referring to amount of product used during application. Risa uses less of Tarte at 1/3 oz. & uses more of NARS at 1/5 oz. Thereby making the dollar value of Tarte even greater than just the difference in ounces.

GT1982 The NARS is great too! I don't think there is ANY beauty product that 10 out of 10 women would all agree is the best. People rave about the Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation being great for oily skin and it's one of the worst I have ever tried! 😕

GT1982 same here. I am younger and I think shape tape is too much for my youthful skin. I love how the nars is dewy and pretty. It almost has a natural feeling. With the shape tape, it makes my under eyes look very crusty.

Aimee Brust Of course they would say that....because the more you use, the quicker you run out and have to buy a new one, so that equals more money for them! I often blend it out to a triangle shape, I just don't apply it that way because if I did, there would be enough to product to cover my entire face and would be wasteful. Have you done a wear test for the Kat Von D Lock it concealer? I've also been using the Makeup forever HD concealer, and while I'm not 40 yet, I find that it tends to settle (I'm a photographer and this was suggested by an MUA that I work with on the regular)

I just purchased shape tape today and was curious how Nars concealer compared. This is my first time watching your video and ill subscribe before i go for sure! Thank you for the insight! I just wanted to tell you that your left side under eye which I believe was Tart side made you look much less tired then on your right side. At application i didnt see much difference. The afterwear segment was very obvious to me that shape tape held up way better! hugely noticeable difference in that tart seemed to keep the undereye makeup nice and neat, shade was bright,no smudging or fine lines. The Nars side was just less bright and youthful to me. am I the only one who thought that? Thanks, Tiffany

Great video! I'm older with lines around the eyes and was told at Ulta that I should stick to my Urban Decay concealer and avoid Tarte. But I'm still curious--do you think it's drying at all? And I'm glad you said that about Laura Mercier powder--it makes my undereye lines look awful. May try one of the powders you suggest.

SusanJo I do like the Urban Decay but I think the Shape Tape has way more coverage. It's a bummer Ulta doesn't do sampling. You should at least try it. As for the LM powder, I was shocked at how awful it made my under eyes look! I actually had to remove it and start over!

I have the Tarte Shape Tape but haven’t done very well with it. I must be using too much. My under eye area looks so bad and cracked and the lines show soooo bad! I will try the trick you said to put on the side of the nose and use less. I paid too much for this stuff for it not to work. We will see what happens.

Thankyou so much for the great video. I already have the nars concealer and was considering buying the tarte one too but not sure I need to now. As a guy I find I don't like make up noticeable on me so I don't use anything under the eyes since I find that whatever I would use it would show in some way since that area is dry for most people. I do however use the nars on some hyper pigmentation on my forehead and I am sure you know how hard that is to cover successfully. I am trying to find something with yet better coverage than the nars but that would also look incredibly skin like. Any suggestions you may have I would be forever grateful . I am sure a lot of people have that problem also.

I feel like there is no comparison--the Tarte wins by a mile. I used to use the NARS and when the Tarte came out I found I needed like a tiny dot vs 4 coats of the NARS. I'm almost 40 and Tarte does not make me look older and NARS actually does, in part bec of how much I need. But also bec it seems more drying and by the end of the day i look so much more haggard. Ironically the TooFaced born this way sucked in most aspects but I didn't look dry, it just didn't cover anything.

Risa Does Makeup It was SO BAD. Poor coverage was just one of the issues. I used Nars for years, and basically kept using anything and everything with it, and hoping I'd find something to replace it with, since I needed so much of it. When ShapeTape came out it was as if there was a god. I use like...two dots and it's the same amount of coverage from half a tube of Nars. So great.

The NARS Radiant was the only concealer that covered my horrible dark circles until I tried the Tarte Shape Tape. The Tarte coverage is excellent too but it doesn't look as thick and opaque. I could see the difference - not dramatic but it blends better and looks flawless.

Doesn't NARS have a new concealer in a little pot with coverage pretty comparable to the shape tape and not quite as drying as the radiant creamy concealer? I get very frustrated with the fact that it is so damn hard to get shape tape or even see testers at ultra to determine the right shade to order.

Ginny Burley Yes, NARS does have a new concealer and I do have it. In my opinion it isn't comparable to the Shape Tape. It doesn't have nearly the coverage, and it's matte, so it makes my eyes look even drier. I put it my kit to use as a spot concealer on the face. I agree with you on how frustrating it is to find the Shape Tape. Hopefully it will be at Sephora soon and not so hard to find!

Thank you Carly! I apply my foundation first, and I don't apply it to my under eye area. If I am doing a smoky eye, I don't use concealer until I am done working on the upper lids. For a basic look I do foundation, then concealer under the eyes and then powder.

My love for the Tarte tape is growing the longer I have it and the more I play with it. I will be trying your application tomorrow morning. I have a good feeling it will work perfect. I have never tried Nars but I can imagine its an amazing concealer because of all the hype I have heard about it. I may be the only one here, but I like the Nars side better. I feel like it looks healthy and radiant but still natural. Maybe not as good of coverage, but it's covered plenty and looks like fresh, healthy skin. It doesn't look dry and the shape tape does for some reason. Either way you're a pretty gal.
