[TAS] Celeste All Hearts in

The first official Celeste All Hearts TAS encode is here! The aim of this category is to collect every heart in the game, which ultimately means beating 8C. Farewell's fake heart is not a collectible, and is therefore not included. Since B-Sides are required for hearts and also unlock the next chapter, A-Sides are only played until their heart and cassette are obtained. In the last couple years, B- and C-Side inputs were primarily improved by Vamp, exopta, calvin, tong815, fishmcmuffins, Lmjacks, sashabell, AAA1459, and LnF.

Note: this TAS does not employ Save and Quits as a means of saving time. Doing so would result in a faster In-Game Time, but only by replacing periods of no control in game with time on the menu. It never adds routing complexity, and since it creates more down-time, all uses were removed in mid 2022.

The hearts are named after the soundtracks playing at the time you collect them. Interestingly, Heavy and Frail isn't part of the OST and ONLY plays in that one room.

I have collected all hearts, but I still have a few questions after watching this video: 1. why do you never get hit by any obstacles? like you can casually dash through spikes and sludges, and even just land on spikes 2. how do you dash out so fast (like what you did in 6c 42:48 and 8c 44:00)? even the technique taught at the start of 8c won't get you that fast, right?

1) the hitboxes for the spikes and sludge are much smaller than the visual sprite and made up of individual circles, so even when it looks like its a solid wall, as long as you dash between the hitboxes and dont contact them you wont die. usually done with a demodash which is a crouched dash, making madelines hitbox much smaller than normal. also, the kill detection is a little wonky on regular spikes, and you can kinda just jump on them if you get pushed into them? 2) its possible to get multiple boosts from a single block, so the tas is just stacking as many as possible to stack momentum like crazy, and doing other things afterwards to maintain the momentum and not lose it. Celeste tech is a huge sinkhole to get into, if youre interested, you should look into demodashing, spike jumps, multiboosts, ultras, and cornerboosts, as those are like the basics of whats happening here, just a lot more frequent and precise than a human can do
