(TAS) Mario Party 6 - Getting 100 Stars in Just 10 Turns

This is a Tool-Assisted Superplay meaning I played the game frame-by-frame and used save states allowing me to redo certain parts of the game until each part was perfect. An example of this is creating a save state before I hit my dice, then reloading the save state over and over until I get the number I want, doing this allows me to pick which spaces I land on and also allows me to roll a triple 7 or triple 10 so I can get coins and move loads of spaces.
I pause the game often so I can manipulate RNG allowing me to control the luck of the game. Some examples are, pausing the game so I can control what numbers the CPU players roll on their dice, pausing the game so I can control what items we get and pausing the game so I can control which minigame is selected at the end of each turn.
This board is called Faire Square and it allows the player to buy up to 5 stars at once depending if they have enough coins for it. During night, it's possible to make the stars cost only 5 coins each instead of the standard 20 coins each. I am able to buy over 70 stars in just 10 turns because of how this board is designed.
There is a happening space on the board which makes all players give up 1 star each, each player then must select a chimney. Each chimney has a plant in it and whoever selects the chimney with the tallest plant will get all 4 stars. This only happens during night though, during the day players give up 10 coins instead and whoever wins gets 40 coins. This happening space allows me to steal a total of 9 stars from each CPU player making this TAS possible.

The gist of the strat is to earn a crap ton of coins during the first 3 turns, have CPUs earn the exact number of stars you will be able to steal from them and have them keep them till you can over the course of the game, and never stop getting triples for ez coins on top of fast movement to buy as many stars as you can. Turn-by-turn breakdown : Turn 0 : be the first player in the turn order. Turn 1 : Have everyone roll a 10 to be within 19 spaces of the DK space, and with a 'Shroom Orb bought from the shop. Win the 4-player minigame, flexing in the process. Turn 2 : You get a double 7 with your own 'Shroom Orb for coins and to get on the Happening space. On the way, pay 5 coins for the slots and win the maximum amount. Win the Happening space event. All the others use their 'Shroom orbs and get a 19, landing them on the DK square. Have it always select DK Mini-game. Have the banana-to-coins value always hit x3, and the minigame hit Banana Shake twice, and Pier Factor once. Get the maximum amount of bananas every time, while having the CPUs also earn 100 coins or more, but less than 110, so they'll also be able to buy exactly 5 stars later, with no coins to spare on the Orb shop. On the way, have everyone get a Super 'Shroom Orb, and all the CPUs that can pay for them fail the slots, to get the chest amount up for later. Have the mini-game be 4-Player. Win it, flexing in the process. Turn 3 : Final setup turn. Use your own Super 'Shroom Orb to get a triple 7 for coins, and go toward the star, declining every event including the star except for the Thwomp, to replace your Super 'Shroom Orb for the next turn. First CPU rolls exactly 26, buys 5 stars, and gets a Super 'Shroom Orb. Second CPU rolls exactly 22, buys 5 stars, pays for but fails the slots, and doesn't get a new Orb. Third CPU finds 2 coins in the Orb, rolls exactly 25, buys 5 stars, and doesn't get a new orb. Win the 4-player Minigame, flexing in the process. Turn 4 : Now the fun begins. Win the event, stealing a star from every CPU. Second and third CPU roll exactly enough to also land on the Happening space and get a Super 'Shroom Orb. Also win both events, stealing 2 more stars from every CPU, totalling a bounty of 3 from each. Having landed on a red space and the CPUs on a Happening space, have the next mini-game be 1v3. Win it, flexing in the process, and keeping all CPUs under 20 coins. Turn 5 : Roll a 30, getting easy coins and allowing you to do 2 more full loops through the middle and getting you close to the star space on the third loop, netting you 10 more stars. Have the first 2 CPUs roll 30s as well, taking the long way around, getting 2 stars at the Star Shuffle minigame and another Super 'Shroom Orb, and not buying a second orb. The third CPU does the same, but gets a normal 'Shroom Orb instead. All 3 CPUs end up close to 50 coins. Win the 4-player 50 coins buy-in battle Minigame, flexing in the process, and redistributing wealth, mostly to you. 5 Turns Left Event : Have the bonus be triple coins from blue and red spaces. Third CPU rolls 30, goes the long way around, wins a free star in Star Shuffle, and buys another star. Win the 1v3 Minigame, this time on the other side, flexing in the process. Turn 8 : Running out of breath. See turn 7, except you only buy 5 stars. First CPU rolls 7 and wins 20 coins from the slots. Second CPU rolls 6 and wins the jackpot of 10 coins from the slots. Third CPU rolls 7. Win the 4-player 50 coins buy-in Battle Minigame, flexing in the process, and redestributing wealth, mostly to you. Turn 9 : Roll triple 4, getting easy coins, buying 5 stars, getting a Super 'Shroom Orb, and setting yourself up for a 15-star shopping spree on turn 10. All 3 CPUs land on the red space, and duel with stars but tie. Win the 1v3 Minigame, flexing in the process. Turn 10 : Oh yeah, it's all coming together. Much like turn 4, make the cost for stars 5 coins, roll 30, ez coins, pay off the Thwomp twice, buy 15 stars. Have all CPUs land on the Happening space, duel with stars but tie when applicable, and win all 3 events to snag everyone's remaining 3 stars, leaving them all with a fat 0 star, and yourself with a whopping 102 stars! Have the last minigame be a 1v3 and win it, flexing in the process.

This was incredible, I'm so glad I found your channel. It makes me wonder if 999 stars and 999 coins are possible in 50 turns. Do you think it would bring much benefit to have each character controlled by TAS rather than having 3 CPUs + RNG manipulation? For instance, forcing a tie in some minigames or having each player perform optimally in the DK minigames could bring a lot more coins into the economy.

It takes a lot of effort to TAS four players at the same time. It takes at least four times as much work because you have to frame by frame input for every player as opposed to just for one player. That said, if someone is willing to put in the work to make such a TAS, I'd love to see it.

Now that I think of it, Coin Minigames could also be another thing to consider. Money Belt can guarantee all players 19 Coins, and other coin minigames might be able to get similar results.

This is amazing to watch! I love seeing all the little optimizations, like forcing everyone to land on DK so that EVERYONE gets coins to buy stars, solely so you have more stars to steal, but also getting Pier Factor instead of Banana Shake to sacrifice Yoshi's coins and ensure that everyone else has FEWER coins after buying all their stars so that they can't loop around with Whomp... so cool.

Every day, I wake up and laugh at this very funny joke for 5 uninterrupted minutes. This is the proper response to hearing a joke as magnificent as this. I then set my phone down, and applaud your comedic triumph until my hands become red. Most dont have the cognitive ability to understand a joke as complex and fascinating as this, but with an IQ of 160, I am able to understand your excellent joke. It truly is a shame that the common folk on the street are incapable of understanding your otherworldly comedic stylings. When you said tas was a person for the 1000th time, it really made you stand out from the crowd. Truly a masterwork of comedy.
