Pokémon: Blue Version is part of the first generation of games within its famous series, known for having a very large number of beneficial glitches. In fact, the game can be completed in less than one minute of in-game time by save data corruption as evidenced in , and it can be completed in ten minutes using more "conventional" glitches, as shown by the . These runs break the game, and avoid much of the gameplay intended by the developers.
And now, for something completely different. In this run, the authors, p4wn3r ( tasvideos.org/... ) and Mukki ( tasvideos.org/... ), catch all 151 Pokémon and complete the game while only using what they call "light glitches", showing off much more of the game than seen in the other runs while still using many glitches to complete this goal much faster than the programmers could have imagined. I'm one of the authors (p4wn3r) and it was I who did most of the routing. I could do some live commentary on it. I don't have the patience to write everything down. In any case, I do remember the main ideas, but it's an old movie, so the reasoning behind some decisions are probably lost forever. Although I'm biased, I think this is still the best pokemon run ever, because the glitches it uses are simple, so it forces you to use all resources available to complete the game fast. The major discoveries after this run, while making it possible to do 151 in real time, were more about programming skills than gameplay skills imo.

In the yellow version, the ones you can't capture are the Pokémon from the rocket team and the ones you couldn't capture. Koffing, wezzing Ekans, arbok Meowt, Persian Weedle, kakuna, Beedrill & Raichu. And the trio of elemental fists, jinx, Magmar, Electabuzz. The rest can get them all, because some NPC exchanges it for you or look for them out there. And to tell the truth it seems like it's the same amount and I think you'd need both games to get those remaining. Beedrill's group did it on purpose because he didn't capture the Weedle in the series.
