[TAS] Speed Racer Wii Class 3 Championship 9 Race 1 in

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
As opposed to the first race that you can choose in the "Story Mode" of the game, here's one of the last races you do before unlocking Mirror Mode. 20 racers instead of 12, alongside speeds upwards of 500 miles per hour. Despite the high speeds, it's a very long track, which is why it took almost 7 minutes to complete two laps of it. This also shows how Rubber-Banded the AI is, as there was an instance where the 2nd place driver closed the gap between him and me by 10 seconds, despite the fact that I was in Stage 4 of boost mode.
There are parts of this that can be done better on a real Wii (Or using a real Wii Remote) because of the fact that the emulated "shaking" of the Wii Remote can only go in certain directions. There's X, Y, and Z, but the main problem is with X; it shakes to the right almost all of the time, which means you can only perform right-shunts most of the time. Using a real Wii Remote allows you to shunt in both directions, therefore allowing more options for hitting opponents and getting to the other side of the track, which is what the shunt was mainly used for.

This is one of the games that have utilized the Wii's TRUE capabilities to the FINEST. With amazing graphics and detail, I like to consider this one of the finest Wii games that I have ever played.

I like how they did that music effect when you used that boost move. It's like how Modern Sonic games switch to a secondary track whenever you use Boost except done RIGHT.

Modern Sonic titles don't swap to a different track when boosting, they just put a filter on it to make it sound like you're listening to a nice pair of $1 earbuds you bought at your local Walmart just to listen to audiobooks to

Oh man, I'm so glad someone did a TAS for this game. It always, ALWAYS felt like the AI was programmed to always be ahead of you every few seconds, and that rubber banding was so intense it's insane. As well proves that even with a TAS, there's no such thing as a perfect run that doesn't involve hitting the walls at some point XD Awesome video!

The best thing I've looked on the start is the incredible move and the attack on the drivers, ah would be access at Zone Mode very fast. That's the reason for you win easily, I consider this a "True Driver Experience". Well done.

This may be controversial but i think rubberbandding isnt too bad. I like when the AI adjusts to my skill so that the game doesnt become too easy and that i can come back for more racing and be sure i wont always be bored and stay in first place. But even then, it depends on the game. For Speed Racer, i dont mind too much becausei love doing car fu so much, it adds more challenge imo. For other games like Gran Turismo, rubber banding would be a shame and not a good thing. I think it really depends on the kind of racing game..

I feel like it would’ve been better to torpedo through those tight turns than take them normally. I know you were saving boost for Zone Mode, but they’re seriously punishing, especially for a car with bad acceleration like the GRX. You might also be able to delay Zone Mode a bit to carry it through those turns.

I wonder how using a real Wiimote can work at all in a Frame-Advanced TAS, though.

You could simply pair a Wii Remote to a PC with a Bluetooth Dongle, then use the Wii Remote as the controller while you advance the frames and save the savestates on the keyboard. I've attempted it using a Gamecube Controller once with the Adapter, and it worked fine. The problem might be the signal thing, but I'm not sure about the functionality.

Well, Bluetooth has a history of desyncing a lot of stuff (Netplay and TAS-es(?) especially), so I was kinda concerned. Also, I do have experience with Dolphin and Bluetooth, as I've played Rhythm Heaven Fever, NSMBW (both with Wiimote), DJ Hero (with Wiimote Accessory), and Melee/PM (with Pro Controller) recently.

If I can remember correctly, that character's car has the highest top speed in the game, and since it's an arcade racer, the handling stat isn't too important, especially not in a tool-assisted speedrun.
