I picked up a 688 a few months ago off craigslist from a studio that was closing out all of its old gear. It was a steal. Still haven't cracked into its MIDI capabilities, but even without doing so, it's a beast.

I had no idea this was that advanced, this would have certainly been responsible for many aspiring pro recording artists to finally get a taste of working with real studio equipment

I cut my teeth on a 464 and made a lot of use out of the sync function it had (no built in midi like this one, but I used an Opcode 8 port interface to my Mac) - lots of great memories with that! Set me on my life path as a recording engineer.
