thanks phil your tascam video tutorials have been a gr8 help .. due to partially disabled & some vision difficulties .. using the manual has not been possible .. Also it has been a difficult time health wise for my wife & myself .. But I do not intend to give up I did manage to save enough to get a pair of fairly good monitors .. yamaha hs5 .. but Oil for boiler wood for stove & household basics come first .. as a retired disabled pensioner with no income envisaged whatsoever from my ' Hobby ' studio .. I cannot argue that point .. still Spring must come someday .. today the garden path is so icy neither of us can get out & our two pet chickens are in the kitchen next to the radiator ..lol .. all the best to you & yours .. thanks again .. bye from the Forest of Dean .

+ben maguire thanks for your kind words Ben. Agree there's not a lot of money in these hobbies unless you're in the right place at the right time, so just have to do it for the love of it :) These machines certainly make quality recordings easier; they've come a long way from the old 4-track cassette portastudios. The problem is there's no excuses to hide behind - can't blame a bad composition or bad performance on the gear now :) Don't hesitate to ask any questions via email if you want. All the best to you both, and take care... Spring is just round the corner :)

+Bill Hayes thanks for the feedback Bill. Yes I get the impression a few more dp machines have been dusted off and re-visited... even some new purchases. Great news for us aspiring musicians :)

I'm a bit late to the party, but THANK YOU for the tutorials. I just bought a DP24, mainly to record my bands live (eight inputs will do it). I had RTFM and found it pretty much useless (not surprising, really), but thanks to your help I think I'll be able to do what I had in mind for this thing. You're a great teacher!

@Sam Green I'm a bit late too with seeing your comment :) For some reason I don't get an email notification so I only see KZbin comments if I log in and look... but many thanks for ordering the guide - hope it fills in the missing pieces. Good luck and have fun with the machine.

I had this unit but sold it because I didn't have time for it and didn't use it at all. Now I finally have the time and want to buy it again but I see Zoom has a new unit that also can be used as a stand-alone recorder/mixer: The LiveTrak-L12. It looks way better than this. Anyone experience with it?

+Marr Haze try asking on the Tascam forum or on the dp24/32 facebook group. I don't know much about it, although it sounds a good machine for its purpose from the reviews. It seems to have more functions than the dp machine for live use, but looks like a computer is reqd. to assist with other 'studio' operations, whereas the dp is a stand-alone unit - less simultaneous recording tracks, but more total tracks for mixing/mastering... so really depends what your requirements are.

Sold my DP-24SD and bought a LiveTrak L12. Hated how severely limited the L12 was. Only thing I liked was it could be battery powered. Sold it and re-purchased a DP-32SD, finally got around to learning the DP-32SD/24SD and I am much happier with it. Also tried the Tascam Model 12 for a bit and found its limitations also impeded my recording process. Neither the Tascam Model nor the Zoom LiveTrak series have any basic track editing capabilities at all, and feel more like mixers with extremely rudimentary recording capability tacked on.

+Paco Keys I don't know Spanish so you will probably have to pay somebody to do this. Is there anyone out there who can do it (it's now 82 pages long)? If so, please get in touch.
