I have Sony UWP lavs and they actually connect directly to the multi-interface hot shoe. It circumvents any pre-amps or A/D conversion and they feed the camera with clean original digital audio.

@@KipJackson Yeah, they even released a dual channel receiver in 2022. So you can have two lavs feeding directly into the camera digitally without conversion by using the SMAD-P5 interface. I use it and it's great

Great overview, Kip! I've been plugging my mic into my Canon 77D. I'm a noobie video creator with stunning quality audio a high priority for my upcoming content. I will likely grab an X8 and never worry about improving audio quality again!

As a longtime user of the H6, its XLR connectors do not hold up to modern-day preamp use. The X8 which costs a little more(while discounted) has vastly superior specs.
