Hmmm. I guess Ive always been cottage plus international items since I’m an artist - but have always called it ‘eclectic’ since I’m not concerned about trendy labels. I just collect whatever I like, and it always ends up going with everything else since I don’t base my home (or personal style) on some sort of definition. But in both, I always have a tonal base for weight and a sense of visual peace - so all my investment pieces are some version of caramel, whether that’s wall paint or a couch, or a good sweater or wool coat. Then everything else can have whatever color, pattern or texture that I love - and often I mix quite a lot of them for interest! New to your channel and don’t mind the AI stuff at all - can’t imagine how long it would’ve taken to find the right pic to illustrate your points without it! And you’ve got a great presentation style - clear points, nice voice modulation, a pleasure to listen to!

@DogwoodMountainMama if your haven't heard the phrase "house poor" you should know it. If you "own" your home, but the mortgage takes up too much of your monthly budget and the costs of taxes and maintenance eat even more, you're not in good shape. It's better to stay "liquid" and live within your means. There at pros and cons for both philosophies, of course. But asking price are over the top. The dollar is going to crash at some point. It's overdue, according to some experts. Better to save your money, get out of any other debt you have, and be ready when the bottom drops out. Everything will be cheaper and you'll be ready to pull the trigger. And you'll look like a genius. 😏

I'm ready for adding more color to my home. After a minute, feelings of despair can settle in....doing gradual upgrades and starting with my office. I found some small great pictures in beautiful frames with some of my favorite Scriptures, along with some really great decor items from Good Will. A few more touches, and it's done. I remember the grey era..walls, floors ...everything. I have never grown tired of our oak floors . I would definitely be more in the cottage group. We were gifted living room furniture that it very old, when a friend's dad died suddenly from Covid. It is not really our style, but made so well and not wanting to buy new now. Thank you for sharing lots of beautiful ideas, especially the rising rich tones of navy, burgundy, and deep green and the natural wood stains. The mix of old style Persian rugs with earth colored and rich colored washed walls is a nice combo. A lot of velvet looks great. I don't care too much for the floral pillows or the unread leather bound book collections. Overall, the rooms are warm, soothing , and high quality . God bless you!

I've been decorating my home in the Orkcore style. The Orkcore look is dominated by red, grey, and brown. Brown leather and (natural or lightly stained)brown wood. Grey concrete, grey stone, grey iron, occasionally grey stained wood(I've found that Aged Barrel Mw283 is the best shade of wood stain for this). Red leather, sedona red stained wood, a bit of red trim, red painted roof. Dark ages war/hunting weapons as decorations. Hide rugs and Navajo rugs. Raw materials and recycled materials such as barnwood. Exposed industrial elements such as large bolts where practical. Pointiness added everywhere it can be done safely, such as pyramid tacks & pointy plants.
