The real kicker is South Korea's ability to produce 3.2M 155mnm shells for these guns. U.S. capacity is currently at 300k rounds per year and the DoD is trying to bump it to 900k rounds per year, and the E.U. is debating the merits of building their own 155mm shell factories so they can produce 1m rounds per year. South Korea alone can produce 3.2M rounds per year, TODAY, right now if needed. Their capacity exceeds the U.S. and EU combined. And we can't really depend on the EU anyways so the global NATO 155mm shell production is solely on the shoulders of South Korea right now

Korea has done with their weapons export what they did with cars- went under the radar and popped up being one of the biggest players on the global market seemingly out of nowhere. And those licences are basically the best deal for both sides- countries like Poland and Türkiye get to have advanced weapon system industry in their country, giving thousands of jobs and domestically produced heavy weaponry and Korean companies get billions of dollars in licence agreements and contracts for building and supplying those manufacturing sites. Poland gets domestically produced, highly advanced tanks, self propelled artillery, etc. and Korea gets loads of cash for technology transfer and future "returning customers".

While we're talking about Korea, I'd like to add this: I grew up next to Kapyong Barracks in Winnipeg, Canada, so let's remember the fallen soldiers from the Korean War, from many countries, not just S. Korea and the USA. I never understood how we could so easily pretend to friends with CCP-run China when it is the exact same regime that killed our boys. Now that the CCP-China has become rich and powerful, everyone is becoming worried about their aggressive behaviour. WTF did you expect from a murderous dictatorship? PS: I say 'CCP-China' to emphasize that the industrious, ancient Chinese people are not the enemy of freedom & democracy, it's the cancer of the CCP that's the enemy. Look at the difference between north & south korea: one regime is a danger to the whole world, the other is a boon to the world (even if just for Samsung products & K-Pop :)). Our soldiers did NOT die for nothing but we must honour their memory by continuing to support democracies against dictatorships. Slava Ukraine. 'Slava' Taiwan.

How can Koreans forget the Battle of Gapyeong? There are pro-Chinese, pro-Russian pro-North Koreans in Korea, but that comes from the inevitability of democracy. flaws and weaknesses. Currently, anti-China sentiment among Koreans is surveyed at over 80%, which is the highest in the world. So, Chinese media are dealing with the serious anti-China issue in Korea.Current Korean regime is based on common sense, and the whole people who support the regime will never forget the sacrifices of our friends during the Korean War in the past. The countries that participated in the Korean War and their people will continue to be very special friends to Koreans. As a Korean, i am very grateful that your country, Canada, participated in the Korean War, and I have deep respect for Canadian Korean War veterans. And, thank you for mentioning Gapyeong in Canada.

Good, it pisses me off that the US( my home) supplied Pakistan with military assistance for so long. I heard we cut aid by a lot but that's not $0 in aid so still not good enough lol. I'll have to look it up right now and see if we still give aid to a literal terrorist govt. I know India and the US are friends but we should be closer friend imo. We have way more in common than we do with Pakistanis. As a group the two countries could carry out some successful COIN ops. We both have a common enemy, radical islamic terrorists, China, and Pakistan should be the third. Wonder why we didn't tell Pak about the Bin Laden raid lol? Of course, I.S.I. would have told him and he would have disappeared for good!! Edit: Well, our aid was around 1.3 billion to Pakistan and now it's under 200 million which is a move in the right direction. Next step: cutting that to no military aid and only medical or food donations. Even then, they should be able to fend for themselves. We have veterans of the war on terror living on US streets dying from drug overdoses and suicide hourly!!! Why is Biden and and nobody in my govt. Trying to help the homeless veterans and homeless in general instead of sending billions to countries that either hate us or would stab us in the back any day of the week. And here we are sending billions upon billions to Ukraine when we have starving American citizens!!! Or helping illegal immigrants before American citizens!!! Almost everyone in the govt. (Especially the left) should be absolutely ashamed of their inaction and complicity in such travesties. People can say what they want about Trump but at least he cared about Americans first and not giving aid to Israel, Pak, Saudis,.etc. sorry for the tangent but the government pisses me off!! Id like to say, korea always have been obsessed with cannons and bombs since when the black powder came to war in first place. Since late goryeo dynasty(918~1392, so around late 1300) they have developed gun powder powered arrows and cannons which are used like small missiles. Since koreans were mostly on defense, so they have come to develop more focus on ranged weapons than china and japan, resulting to build artillery weapons like hwacha, battleships such as turtle ships and more. Korea's ministry of defense is like very obsessed with making more cannons and arms, and i think its also a result of such old tradition they have lol.

just an additional detail that was not mentioned. Korea's geography heavily influenced the development of artillery. Korea's geography is extremely mountainous, with 70% of existing land being "mountains". As a result, direct-fire weapons easily become rendered useless, as the opposing force can just retreat to the other side of the hill. Thus, the need for accurate and voluminous indirect fire was born, to hit and damage targets hiding on the other side of the hill while being provided cover by hiding on a slope that cannot be directly seen by the enemy.

Ceasar and K9 are designed for different usage. One for quick mobility (inc. air transport) and manoeuvrability, the other for heavy armored artillery exchanges. Considering Denmark geographical location and NATO membership, I'd say it makes more sense to get the Ceasar over the K9. For a country like Poland or Finland, it would be the opposite. Ideally you'd have both systems however as they are complementary rather than competitors. Both are excellent artillery systems.
@Jauertussen1 Жыл бұрын
@@jagorsimp7020 yes agreed, also Ceasar was bought 100% correctly to the role as a high effect, precise and mobile system at a good cost vs the K9, to the role of delivering fire support from fortified positions with low thread of counter battery/aircraft etc. like fire support in international missions like Iraq and afghansistan. the large thread of conventional conflict, few imagined back when the program was started. my only bias towards K9 is to be honest the general weather in denmark and sitting inside a heated box doing long fire mission drills instead of standing outside in frezing rain :D
