I like to think of the three passengers as three stages of life. The inexperienced still in-military-training boy highlights being out of your parents care for the first time, feeling scared and alone but knowing that life awaits you and that you have to find yourself. The middle aged guy, symbolizes hardships of being on your own as an adult person (he’s an Afghan immigrant so he’s alienated by most of the society) and needing something or someone other than yourself to believe in, to make you move forward. And the old man is when you have gone through most of life’s challenges and finally understand that’s what life is, and every moment is something to be cherished.

When Mr bagheri give Mr badii that long lecture on how a cherry literally saved his life or how to overcome pain or depression, but at the end Mr badii ask him what will you do with him in the morning, I thought he's not listening anyone, he is blind, but when he take a u turn just to say that double check if he's alive or not, I got a hope, he has finally changed in mind, but we never know did he felt sleep in that thunder rain or not.... He did or he didn't, but i believe he didn't cuz a wise man said, always think positive.

I just watched this film for the first time today and love your analysis. I wasn’t prepared for the big impact this film would have on me, but am happy I finally watched it. The grave was next to a cherry tree I believe. We don't know if Mr. Badii fell asleep for the last time that early morning or if a third rock knocked him awake, but his tumble with life and death is something that we all go through.

There's so much to think about with this movie. What I find so critical is the concepts used to counteract suicide (meaning/purpose and utility) are concepts Badii uses to condone suicide. He poses the idea of: What if God meant for suicide to be a means to end suffering? And in terms of utility, he feels his suicide will be useful because he's willing to pay whoever helps him an exorbitant sum. What I love too about the movie is how he initially tells the soldier to call out his name a few times and if there's no answer, then bury him. But when Badii speaks with the third person he propositions, he tells them to throw a rock at him and shake his shoulders too. It's one of those small, hopeful details. It's also interesting to think about how Badii kept propositioning another person: it was risky to his resolution to suicide. When he visited the cement factory, it dawned on me: Couldn't he just set up a grave there and have the machinery inadvertently bury him? Why bring another person into the mix if you truly wanted to take your life and their actions could counteract this? This movie is just so rich in context and scenario

Bill - Fantastic analysis! I have never seen a movie about ending life be so poetic and a beautiful reflection on why it’s important to live and enjoy every moment of the time we are given on this planet. It’s been a tough few years for many but a movie like Taste of Cherry can give us all a sense of purpose and meaning. Keep these reviews coming! No worries at all. I recently just got into his films. I started with The Three Colors trilogy probably can’t go wrong with Blue or Red. White is good but doesn’t hold up to the others in my opinion. Hope you enjoy it!

I was on the fence about buying this movie, but I've now added it to my wish list - and it might be the next film I get! Would you be averse to reviewing Come and See? I've yet to see it, but I've heard some very dark and disturbing (and also amazing) things..

THE TASTE OF CHERRY wasnt sweet enough for mr.badi which we see the tree besides his graveyard as compared to the TASTE OF MULBERRY which that old man ate......and nature drowned him in his graveyard
