How do you feel about Taste Of Cherry? How does it compare to Abbas Kiarostami's other films? Which other films make you ponder on the reasons for existing? Please let me know! Thank you for watching!

I was giving this a watch last night. It's on youtube. Heavy film that looks deceptively simple.

Oh definitely! When I first saw it, I expected Kiarostami's stoic, gentle pacing, but I wasn't expecting that to be matched with these hefty debates on the merits of living. I wish I made the observation while recording the video, but looking back, there's a slight Dante Alighieri-esque path that Mr. Badii is taking in encountering these different individuals with their conflicting views and experiences before he reaches his destination.

I'd love to see you cover "Paradise Now" by Hany Abu-Assad. It's a great film, shot during Israeli attacks on Palestine, and focuses on suicide bombers. It's a very human movie.

My view is that it's intentionally uncertain whether he remained in the hole or not, but that it depends on the viewer's own outlook after listening to the conversations in the film. If you felt the people that Mr. Badii met made good points about the merits of life, then it might be that Mr. Badii would eventually get out of the hole again, and if you felt Mr. Badii made good points in the film's conversations, then it might be he remained there. For me personally, due to having an optimistic outlook, I would hope Mr. Badii would get out of the hole. It really comes down to the viewer's own perspective of living. I hope this helps!

The soldier represents the cowardice of the individual and the army. If the protagonist is in need is it not his duty to help? Does the soldier not defend the lifestyle of the country they defend? Can a soldier sacrifice their life so someone can kill themselves? The irony is too much for him. He is just an atomoton who must be back by 6. He is not allowed to think and reflect on his pupose at this stage of his life. The old taxidermy man is obviously another contradiction, for he has lived life and is able to tell of a similar stuggle. Had he killed himself he would not be here to honour his promise to bury him. His promise is also representative of the good in humanity, that we can trust each other (for the most part) when some someone is sincere. The orotaganist is in the middle of his life, not old nor young. The rain was nice for it welcomed His death, for he would drown. The ending was great yet confusing. The soldiers saying their march song represent his best memories, for life is simply a collection of memories (if one is afforded reflection).

Underrated channel, where can I find this movie?

In the UK and US, it is available to watch on Criterion blu-ray, which is the way I would recommend viewing the film as the special features are gorgeous, and you also support Kiarostami's family by purchasing it. I'll always suggest picking a film up physically if possible. Thank you so much for watching! I'm happy to hear my channel is seen as underrated 💖
