Every thanksgiving Mom would make 3 chocolate pies, 2 banana cream , 2 butterscotch and 1 lemon meringue . There's never been a survivor 😂😂

I grew up with the banana pudding with the vanilla wafers. I don't think I ever had the first one. I just know that the banana pudding with the vanilla wafer is a dessert I grew up with.

My mom always made her banana pudding putting a meringue on the top. I’m not much a a banana pudding fan. The pudding would be the same it’s just how they are finished off.

Growing up we had nilla wafers in the baked version too. I truly dislike 🍌 🤢, I will eat the bananas in the baked but not the cold😂

I'm 69 now and when I was young, every banana pudding was baked to brown the meringue. When I was doing the banana pudding myself, however, I did the no-bake. Now, I much prefer the baked.

I really like the baked because you can customize it, I use a bit less sugar. However I don't care for it warm, I prefer the baked the next day after it's been in the fridge overnight and is cold.

Mine in a different version. Instead of the Southern version, the recipe that I have is more of a banana custard (or pastry cream) in a graham cracker crust with sliced bananas on top then covered in whipped cream. Dad really liked bananas, so this one has basically puree bananas in the custard.

I have never in my 60 years seen someone so excited to try banana pudding. I prefer the no bake, with real home made whipped cream because you still have the lovely banana chunks and the slightly crunchy wafers.

Nowadays, Elana wouldn't wait until you finished testing. She'd be chowing down while you two were jibber-jabbering. If you want to try a similar pudding, replace the banana with some (drained) crushed pineapple. You might like it even better. After all, Mrs. H is not a huge banana fan.
