I wouldn't really say it's an unborn body of a duckling given the fact that it's not a live birth situation. Since the egg is laid and not carried in the bird, the bird then hatches. One could say unhatched, but that doesn't sound good. It's typically referred to as a partially incubated duck egg, with the embryo only partially developing into a duckling. Oh well. Semantics. Balut tastes so much better than a century egg though. 😂😂

Century eggs have very sour yolks, so something of a neutral taste (like porridge) is used to balance that flavour. Considering she’s using a crepe, I expect that she would do very well in the competition

Goes well with pickled ginger, spinkle of brown sugar and cilantro or Chinese celery. Add chilli flakes and chilli oil for those who like it spicy. The best ones have soft yokes in the center.
