Excited to see your other eugenias! that chocolate tasting one sounds really interesting

That’s E coronata. What’s so cool about it is that it is a small and beautiful plant so it’s super ornamental. But what a weird fruited tree. The first year they all tasted like a chocolate covered raisin to me so I was blown away. The second year it was more atypical kind of just Cherry with only a hint of chocolate, but that could possibly be because our seasons are so weird. One year was really cold. The next year were really hot so it’s all over the place.

Hello from South Africa. So jealous of your beautiful collection, as someone who lives in in a frosty arid desert with huge temperature swings, and who also like collects rare fruit.

Hi! Thanks for watching! What kinds of stuff can you grow in that climate? How about kei apple?
@aaronmayne61383 ай бұрын
@@FancyPlants I've been propagating hundreds of Kei Apples. We use them as security hedges. I've also got lots of pineapple guava which is very hardy. Cacti and succulents are obviously very numerous. I've managed to grow lots of passiflora mollissima which is surprisingly hardy. Prickly pears are weedy here. We have highs of 45c and lows of -5c. So very hostile. I also have loquats and Dwarf Tamarillos. And regular Tamarillos, though they always die back in winter before fruiting. 😔

great video! how old is your tree?
@FancyPlants2 ай бұрын
Thanks. I would say around 8-9 years

Maybe they sweeten up the longer they ripen on the tree?
@FancyPlants3 ай бұрын
The one that was bigger and older was more sour than the smaller one that was sweeter so I am going to guess it's not that. Last year I waited till they dropped on their own and it was even more sour. I think it's a factor of temperatures, water, etc.
