Sweetheart are the best ones if you like pure sweetness. If you like sweet + slightly tart flavor Mauritius is for you. I love them both and I can eat a couple of pounds of each at a time. I get more $ for SW per pound that Mauritius, people are just willing to pay more, and in fairness there is a lot more fruit in the SW.

When I was in Queensland Australia my friend had a new neighbour who didn't hesitate to chop down half a down mature lychee trees to pave their new driveway. We were devastated.

I have Mauritius and Brewster and can not really taste the difference. If anything maybe the Brewster is a little more floral

hello and greetings again from southern california. was lucky to come across a large lychee tree with hundreds of delicious fruit when i was a letter carrier. the wonderful homeowners let me try my first air layer 2015 and was successful, i did three more in 2016 and five 2017. the homeowners do not know what cultivar. my best guess was hak ip or sweetheart(just like in your video). their harvest was mild sweet in 2015, real sweet 2016, slight tart 2017. they cut the tree from 20 ft plus to @12 ft after all the fruit was gone august and sadly has no flowers or fruit this year. hope all is well at sulcata grove and best to you all in 2018.

Loving these videos. Awesome. "Like an eyeball" definitely not remembering that one when I'm eating lychee.🤔 I might be wrong but i think craig enjoys the mangoes more and celeste the lychees.

Muhammed Suliman 😂We have had more than one visitor tell us that as they tried lychees for the first time. I’m allergic to mango sap, so I have to be very careful not to pick up mangos or touch the skin of them. I can eat lychees without the help of someone else peeling them, which is nice 😊.

I love all you are your video. Can you tell me what kind of fertilizer do you use for lychee and mango. I live in San Jose California Thanks

Jimmy Tran when our mangos are little, I use an organic fertilizer with npk and minors. Years 2 on, I use 0-0-50, calcium (dolamite), and a little boron and epsom salt. For lychees, I use an organic fertilizer after pruning (right after they fruit).

Warren Beachy Its best to propagate by airlayering. They are not true to seed and can take over 10 years to produce when grown from seed.

There have been a number of new lychee cultivars released in Australia recently (at the same time as the fairly famous Erdon Lee). I am really looking forward to tasting them all in a few years. I am growing 'Red Ball' which is one of the varieties released.

Practical Primate - Exciting! Our No Mai Tsze produced for the first time this year and is now our favorite. Fruits on that one are just starting to ripen. SW Florida is now dealing with the erinose mite due to a grower illegally importing plant material. How difficult is the mite to deal with in Australia?

Awesome about the no mai tsze :) I had read about the mite being there. Over here the following is recommended (see link). I’m lucky enough to have not had them. Yet anyway. www.daf.qld.gov.au/business-priorities/plants/fruit-and-vegetables/a-z-list-of-horticultural-insect-pests/lychee-erinose-mite

Practical Primate We are thankful to not have any on our mature trees, though we did unknowingly purchase some infected wholesale trees before the state put out a notice.

+Sulcata Grove - @ 1:50 you mentioned there is an Insect eating the Fruits. 1- Have you thought about spraying it with Vinegar, just as a Trial like many Natural Farmers do. 2- Have you *observed* to see another Insect eating that Insect? Perhaps using another Insect, to kill those Insect?

D B Craig received a PhD in entomology studying biocontrol - so far, we haven’t noticed any predators, but will pay special attention next year. I’ve never heard of trying vinegar. Will try it on part of the tree next year.

+Sulcata Grove - Hi, yes pay special attention next year to see if there is another Insect that might be beneficial. Also, since you are Natural, next best thing is Vinegar. Dilute with Water and Spray on the Fruit and observe to see if they avoid it. Maybe you will find your answer and I hope you will. Good Luck!!! :)))))))))))
