Cheese platter - perhaps one of the most popular appetizers. Today I offer three options for serving a cheese platter for the holiday table!
Cheese deserves more than just being a breakfast sandwich topping. If you have several types of cheese, you can assemble a cheese platter. It is very fitting at a buffet and is a wonderful way to delight guests at a celebration.
The platter is garnished with fruits and nuts, mint leaves. Soft cheeses with a penicillin rind pair well with grapes, figs, or juicy pears sliced. The taste of hard cheeses is highlighted by kiwi, cherries, pineapple. Fatty cheeses go well with almonds or walnuts. For example, a slice of avocado or ripe grape will accentuate and soften the flavor of blue cheese.
The cheese platter is served after the main course, before dessert, but it can also be a standalone dish as a wine appetizer. Moreover, the more intense the cheese's flavor, the more acidic the wine served with it should be.
