Mario Party 7 is a party game released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2005. Four players race across a board trying to get stars.
In this TAS, BeastlyN64 ( tasvideos.org/... ) plays on the "Solo Cruise" gamemode. This is the main story mode for Mario Party 7 in which the player must play through all 6 boards against one CPU opponent. Each board has a different objective the player must beat before progressing on to the next board. Unlike party mode, you don't play minigames at the end of each turn.

Yeah speed runners usually use Peach or Daisy in this game because of the Flower Orb. Effect-wise it’s just like Mario Party 8’s Bitsize Candy without the 8-bit transformation in which you get 3 coins from every space travelled. If not Peach or Daisy they use Toad or Toadette who have a special item that gives them 3 mushrooms per use, giving them 3 turns of double dice blocks

Jon beat the Bowser board very quickly so their luck is pretty equal considering Emile’s N64 luck and Jon’s GameCube luck (besides 7). Emile had bad luck in the first 3 GameCube games and Jon had ok luck at the N64 games

If I had to guess, it's based off of the current frame. If you notice, they pause the game before certain random things happen, such as collecting an item. They just pause and wait a bit to manipulate the RNG to a favorable outcome.

It seems like there's a pretty excessive amount of time wasted on manipulation here. Surely there are better ways to do it than with that many pauses?

@@hawaiidkw1 This isn't a (human) speedrunner. This is a TAS. It's supposed to be the theoretical fastest time a player could achieve, if they had the fastest reflexes in the world. But this seems to be pretty far from the theoretical fastest time to me.

@@globalincident694 Even with beyond superhuman reactions, there isn't much of anything you can do to influence the game when it's not even your turn.

@@globalincident694 considering each opponents move loses multiple seconds and even each movement within that move costs about half a second, a second to manipulate them down to a 1 isn’t a time loss overall, especially when you consider manipulation to get the player down to the fewest possible moves

You know, this reminds me that Toadsworth has pretty much dropped off the face of the Earth nowadays... Then again, an old man Toad might just damage the Mario brand, amirite?
