For those wondering. The original Puyo Puyo music is still in the game. They just moved it around to the Vs mode, exercise mode, when you get to Robotnick, the ending where the cast appears, and password screen. The rest of the game uses its own OST.

Not entirely true. You're right that some of the original music is still in the game and some of it is still used, like the 2P Vs. mode which comes from the last round of Puyo Puyo. Still, there are still some tracks unused but still in the game's data. Like the Puyo Puyo theme for example.

Imagine how this must look from Robotnik's perspective. I got lucky when I beat this, Robotnik's AI derped and it ended up stacking beans straight upward at the start of God knows how many restarts and I won. I don't think I'll ever beat this game again, but it's nice to play it with friends.

If you get a 5-chain or higher, there's _literally nothing_ your opponent can do. Since you can't offset incoming garbage in this game, the amount a 5-chain will drop on the opponent will fill their board immediately. Puyo 1 is janky as _hell._

Probably my favourite game I owned on SEGA, maybe tied with Sonic Spinball. I could never beat it as a kid but finally conquered it on the Steam release like fifteen years later, haha. I still remember as a kid guessing passwords in this game and putting one in that was all B’s and getting warped to Grounders level. That was nuts to me as a young child, that I could guess a password somehow and see a part of a game that was impossible for me to get to at the time. Love this game.

I had a roller coaster-type experience with this game throughout my childhood. When I was super young, I was stupidly scared of this game for some odd reason. However, before I hit my teens, I brought this game over to a friend's house for summer break and we both got really heated and despised it because we couldn't get past Frankly. I remember it took 2 DAYS of us discussing strategies of how to get passed. When we did beat him, we were ecstatic and something clicked for me. We powered through to where I think was Skweel (who my friend nicknamed dingleberry) before we looked up a guide. That's when I saw people doing chain patterns and where we discovered Puyo Puyo, which I quickly became invested in. I sometimes revisit this game and usually beat it within 40 minutes to an hour.

What I think is kinda cool is that, theoretically, a human might actually be able to get this good.
