I do this with my swift dzire at time and it goes perfectly fine in reverse after that. This is generally done in trucks or other HMV as told to me by truck driver. Gr8 video.

Hold clutch for 3 to 4 secs and then shift to reverse. There is the synchroniser when you shift to first and till then the spur gear(for reverse) free up. That’s why it meshes perfectly. But try holding clutch alone for few seconds. This will make the crank shaft to keep rotating while the gears settles then engage reverse it should be ok.

Just faced reverse gear issue few minutes back.. Reverse gear was not engaging and by chance i did try by shifting to first gear and then reverse again Viola, it worked! When i searched on KZbin to see if others are facing similar issue, found your video.👍

Thanks for the information sharing. But I also initially faced this problem. Later I found if I drag the lever towards me and then drag back, I almost able to successfully engage the reverse gear most of the time. Thanks.

Perfect solution for this kind of problem. I had three other issues for which I did not get convincing answers from TATA motors. First, it happened that I was wanting to start my car with reverse gear after about 10 days or so. When I put the gear to reverse position from Neutral, pressed start button. After one or two minutes I released the hand gear and started to move the car, I felt something was stuck and the car was lifting itself upward at the rear and with an alarming noise it moved little bit backward. I was shocked and could not understand what was happening. Then I moved the car forward with First gear and again set the gear to reverse position, this time it moved back. There many people who witnessed this. At the TATA motors service centre I was told that the hand gear or lever should not be pressed upwards to its optimum level it should be engaged only with max five ticks. Second, wrong TPM display, Just before the first free servicing, two tyre pressures were displaying as LOW, where as when I checked at two tyre pressure centres it was showing 30 and 35 psi. But on TPM display is showing LOW. It was rectified during the First free servicing. The car has not been driven even 100 kms after that again one of tyre TPM display was showing LOW. It was rectified at the service centre by filling 33 psi in. all the four tyres whereas max psi mentioned on the car is 30 psi. Third one is when I happened to start the car after 10 days it was not staring and the battery was fully drained. On road side assistant attending as the complaint was raised to the TATA customer care. It was done with jump start with another battery. The car needs to be started on alternate days to charge the battery. The car has just finished with First free service. I had to face with many issues. I had another issue on 15 Sep 2021 after the car was serviced all above issues. I parked the car at a parking place and went for a piece of work. When I came back and wanted to move the car with reverse gear, in the display it was showing reverse and the gear was also intact on the reverse position but the car was not moving backward. It was standing still even after being accelerated. I then shifted the gear to neutral and shift to reverse position and pressed start button and pressed the accelerator but it was not moving back and standing still. I was wondering what was happening and could not understand. As a last resort I shifted the gear to Ist position and moved tne car little bit forward then shifted the gear to neutral and then to reverse. This time car moved backward. Maine bhi yehi same workaround find kiya. Ye work karta hai, additionally agar gaadi runing condition mai hai and reverse gear lagana hai tab bhi ye karna padega. Agar nhi kiya to gear ki (KHAT) aavaj aayegi

I am facing the same reverse gear problem is my new punch car also. I sm getting krrrrrrrrr sound while i apply reverse gear. I found its common problems in most of the cars. Applying 1st gear before Appying reverse gear is the only solution for this. Service centre guy told me this solution.

Simply double clutching for reverse gear solves this. Don't shift directly from 1st to R. Press clutch, remove from 1st, put in neutral, release clutch for 1 second, then again press clutch and engage R gear. Entire thing takes 1 second and R gear always engages.

This vehicle has hydraulic clutch. If there is a leakage or air in the system even then this problem may arise. Check for hydraulic oil leakage and presence of air bubbles in the system.

I find Nexon's gears to be hard and not as precise as Tiago's. Tiago's gears slot perfectly but Nexon's gears seems vague. Both cars are 4 years old and have run almost around 8000 kms.
