This method is required only for very old cars and trucks. Modern cars have synchromesh transmission and you can shift directly from 1 to 2 without moving to center neutral. There is no way you can move from 1 to 2 without passing through neutral in modern cars. In fact it is dangerous to stay in neutral for more time than required.

Very well explained! I am a beginner level driver and rely on such videos to improve my driving skill. One question though... Do we always get so much time to pause (bring it to neutral) and then shift gear? What about when we are driving in congested situation like traffic and all especially when we frequently need to go from 1st to 2nd and then back to 1st?

No need to pause at neutral. You can shift between 1st and 2nd gears

There is no problem at lower speeds. But REMEMBER!, when u shift the right way at high speeds, u need to adjust the engine rpm during the period before going into higher or lower gear, otherwise u will feel the jerk as the rpm is not suitable for the fast moving tyres, so whenever u shift, watch the rpm quickly, blip the throttle to match the rpm, u will shift smoothly and nobody will notice anything

In heavy traffic also u can take a pause at neutral unless u r doing a drag race and need to change gears very quickly

I have been trying this technique after watching your video. Thanks for letting us know the correct way. 👍 One observation: it takes more time in gear shifting and also RPM drop a lot which results into load on engine as it needs to pickup car from lower rpm. I hope you understand my point 👍

you thought that the neutral gear is only the center most point of the selector (the one between gears 3 and 4). Actually, the points on its left and right are neutral too. The proper way to shift from gear 1 to gear 2 is by simply moving your gear selector downwards twice

This is absolutely great while driving in plain area, we drive in hills nd steep inclinations nd can't get the rpm down. We engage the gear really fast else we need to start again from 1st gear with boosted rpm.

Sir maine video me slow kar k bataya hai sirf smjhane k liye. rukne ka matlab aisa nahi ki wahi wait karte rehna hai wo time itna Kam hota hai ki jaldi notice bhi nahi kiya ja sakta wo sirf drive karne wala he feel karta hai or usme koi bi momentum lose nahi hota . Useful for Petrol & Diesel cars only, in cng cars while overtaking especially on single lane you have to be very fast in shifting because power drops significantly in cng mode.

Bhaiya, ek cheez aapne miss krdi, gear ko sahi tareeke se change krte time clutch realease krne ke pehle rpm bohot down hojata hai, aapko mention krna chahiye tha ki rpm match bahut important hai, as its hazardous for ur engine and transmission both if u dont revv match during comfort shifting

I spoke to Service centre people, and they asked me to use direct shifting rather than stopping at Neutral if we are going in a sequence. if we are shifting from 5th to 3rd ( here no sequence ).. then your method is good. Now got confused which one to follow
