The Kwid is nothing but a sheep in SUV skirts... pathetic.You benchmarked boot space with the Swift? The Polo has 294 litres... You could have mentioned that, "The Kwid has more boot space than the Polo."Also you could have taken a Tiago XM or XT to compare with the Kwid as it is pointless to compare the 5.5L XZ with the 4L Kwid.

Hi Dhananjayan, Added the point about the Swift purely because I was talking about another Maruti at that point. Agree about the point that we should've technically compared a mid-variant of the Tiago to the Kwid. But, most press cars are usually top-spec versions. Also, the verdict is based on whether one should spend extra for the Tiago. We're often asked if stretching the budget slightly to get a car from a higher segment is a good idea. My infatuation with the Kwid started a new car hunt. I was stricken by Kwid, I looked at the specs, seemed okay, went to the showroom and took a test drive, good space but a body with a rigidity of cardboard, handling sucks, no feedback, extremely light, goes out of control. Price wasn't far behind Alto K10 either, so checked the AMT version, liked the engine and power to weight specs but again tin-can like structure and absolutely no space. Then booked the new kid in the block, the Tiago, it had everything but had to take a plunge with Tata, took it. Delivery tomorrow.

When the host was shutting Kwid's door, you could hear the Maruti 800 like tinny thud. I have personally seen the Tiago, it's a heavy car. It will have a good grip on the road due to its weight. More confidence while driving and maneuvering. When you look at the Tiago, it feels like it's saying TAKE ME HOME. Another thing is the mileage. I've heard people say Renault is fucking with them when they say it gives 25 kpl. Whereas, I've seen videos of people driving Tiago petrol and it actually giving 22 kpl mileage on highways. Only wished Tiago came in some cool colors. The one's yellow, blue are real shitty colors.

All sub 10 lakhs priced in India suffer from one common problem .i.e. lack of legroom for the rear seats. All brands focus on the front seats comforts overlooking the comfort of rear seat passengers . Rear seats should be adjustable like the front seats i.e. to able to pushed back when needed. 90% of the times we use cars just to make short trips to visit family friends or to watch a movie with family members. We seldom need the boot in daily use but there that boot takes up a permanent space. It is like a thick bezels of a smartphone . Once in a while we need that and on those occasions we can do with little less space also. Most of the time boot goes empty and rear seat passengers suffer a lot due to lack of legroom. Car companies can do well to make the rear seat adjustable so that if required the rear seats can be pushed back 8 to 10 inches and make rear seat passengers happy. A little less boot space does not matter. Anyways, choice should be left with the customers whether to enjoy legroom or bootspace .

I really enjoy my young SUV, the kwid. This is incredibly kind of car. It has 28 litre fuel capacity which can cover up to 500 km on an open road. I took a trip to Johannesburg via Maseru. I made it without hassles because the power it has in that 3 cylinders engine.

This information is helpful and I must admit contradicts the information I have been given. A person in my office had bought the XT variant of the Tiago and told me that the current mileage in the city (Bangalore) is 14 kmpl and he was told that the mileage will go up after the first service (this was a month back). I met him again last week and he said it is still 14 kmpl and when he asked around was told that the mileage is pretty much the same (in the city). Hence I am confused...as the online reviews give a different picture.

The mileage shared above is claimed by ARAI which is observed under standard driving conditions and on a straight stretch. Hence, the mileage claimed might vary from the one that we get in the normal traffic conditions. Apart from this, mileage varies from person to person, as we all drive differently. Maintenance of the car also plays a major role in the determination of mileage. The well you maintain your car, the more mileage you are rewarded with.

Hey Rahul, nothing of this sort has been reported to us even since its launched. There is no leakage problem, mileage that it offers may not be the same as claimed but it is certainly is not going to drop that much and if it does, it depends on how you drive your car. Talking about low weight, though measure have been taken to reduce the weight of the car, still there is no compromise done with safety, the three nut concept is also used in KWID recently, so you should not worry about that too. Maruti K10 does not have that many features on offer. However, it has a good resale value as compared to Tata but it still isn't the best buy. Tiago offers you ABS which is not offered in any other car in this segment. Thus, braking isn't a problem either.

tiago build quality is far much better han kwid. also noise insulation has really make its cabin stable and pleasurable. the only weak point is its 3 ltrs engine which make s you shift gears frequently. a 4 ltrs motor would have done wonders to that car.

What a F* IGNORANT :) KWID is better in almost all aspects (mileage, price, boot space, touch screen, gps, digital instrument, resale value...) the diference of price (60000R) and motor power of the TIAGO is not justified, only ignorants can't admit it... "Lots of complaints" ? False, only some KWIDs had water leakage problems (very mediatized by TV...) but yes real problems on glovebox. Anyway, KWID is the BEST VALUE FOR MONEY on Indian Market so far !

Coming to the Tiago we bought an Indica Vista VX diesel over swift three years backs. And I am very happy and satisfied with the way Vista has turned out in these three years with 20000+kms. As far as I can see Tiago is much improvement over Vista owing some design and build to Vista. So Tiago is a product of relentless Improvement by tata starting right from the 2000 when they introduced Indica. They Tata slowly but steadily have tried their best to come out of disgrace and humiliation that the horrendously sounding Indica's on Indian Streets Caused them. And The Tiagois the begining of the new era for Tata Motors in Hatchback/Small cars segment

Compare Apple with Apples and Orange with Oranges, I'm talking about the Price at the moment, the basic version of Tiago is 50,000 plus than Kwid, (I maybe wrong with the exact figure, you may please find out). The Guy who talks about Power of Tiago, please see there is a difference in CC, compare the power of 800 with 800, so this seems to be personal view about the power that he is looking for more power, agreed, but this can't be compared (800 Kwid vs 1200 Tiago). The sheet of body might be I don't know, say might be thicker than kwid, but this makes the car heaver and results in low milage, infact amount of thickness that kwid body has is more than sufficient. But if somebody talks about the looks...... Kwid looks superb, incomparable. KWID has done good job, anyone wants to compete KWID will need to work real hard to bring out better car than this and the Reno Technology is unbeatable, these two cars can't be compared, there is a big price difference, maybe kwid is hitting the upper segment as well that's why this comparison has been made.

Well to correct the review, the car's engine is not little noisy but TOO much noisy. My sis own KWID and we are socked to realize that its petrol engine SOUNDS LIKE DIESEL ENGINE.. Obviously this sounds is the loss of engine efficiency and creates very bad impression among your friends and family. Dear Renault - Please accept that it is very noisy and do something to improve it. You have long way to do fair in JD power customer satisfaction survey. My Conclusion - UNLESS RENAULT CORRECT THE BELOW ISSUES MY ADVICE IS TO STAY AWAY FROM KWID:- ISSUE 1 -- ENGINE IS NOISY. ISSUE 2 -- CIRCULAR KNOB BASED GEAR CHANGE IS DIFFICULT TO USE. GIVE AN OPTION LIKE OTHER AMT CARS. ISSUE 3 -- BONET OPENING LATCH LOOKS VERY BAD.

kwid is a shit car. i dont know from which angle he finds it ac chiller. you wont even feel it working even on 2nd point. the engine makes an annoying noise and the pulling power is really bad. The renault representatives wont let people to drive it a little bit far. this is by far the best marketing gimmick by renault. i ends up buying the micra active and has no regret on my decision.please dont get fooled by kwids word of mouth publicity. this car is really bad . no space even the interior is so tightly packed ypu will feel claustrophobic. the worst part is the rear which is so small that you wont be able to park this car without the touch screen requires a chip which needs to be change every 6 months at 1000 rupees.

Yeah, you're so right : KWID is better in almost all aspects (mileage, price, boot space, touch screen, gps, digital instrument, resale value...) the diference of price (60000R) and motor power of the TIAGO can't be justified... KWID is the BEST VALUE FOR MONEY on Indian Market so far !
